Iowa Republicans remain skeptical of their Presidential candidates:
King was not surprised to hear about a Washington Post poll Sunday morning showing that only 19 percent of Iowa Republicans are “very satisfied” with their party’s field of presidential candidates, compared with 53 percent of Iowa Democrats who said the same about their party’s choices.
King said the poll accurately reflects feelings among his fellow Republican voters. “They’re just really not engaged with any of the first-tier candidates,” he said.
The apathy reflects the Republican front-runners’ differences on conservative issues, including opposition to abortion and support for limited government and lower taxes, King said.
Ed Hertko, a West Des Moines physician, said he remained undecided after the debate. “Nothing here caused me to pick out one guy and say, ‘Yes, he is the individual.'”
