The Latest Conservative Talking Points

The Latest Conservative Talking Points
by
David Schlecht

This comment from my recent post, Harold Estes, is such a fine example of conservatives’ talking points that it warrants a post of its own. We are at a critical time in America’s history and some people really believe that parroting their talking points constitutes discussion, or scores one for their team. Why isn’t America their team?

Chuck writes:

DAVID IS CORRECT — Progressives are always right because facts, history and reality are adjustable so listen up:
1. Fair taxes – If you make too much (a floating number based on government need), Uncle Handout takes the rest. If you make less, we “spread the wealth”; oh that’s right we’re broke and it’s Bush’s fault.. Not-with-standing that the top one percent currently pay over 40 percent of all individual taxes and the top 25 percent pay over 87 percent (IRS for 2007), but, they don’t deserve to keep the fruits of their labor like under that foolish old capitalistic free market system.. However, all be be solved soon with the new Cap and Tax Bill, Medical Bill, Chris Dodd’s new financial control legislation, expiration of those silly Bush tax cuts — but no fear, these things won’t affect YOU!!!!!

This isn’t some elementary school spelling bee. These are important issues and should be addressed seriously. How can anyone just take a set of numbers and not look at all sides? My gosh, you mean the ultra rich are paying 87% of our taxes? Oh, cry me a river. Let’s see, that is what percent? Well, since the top 25% make 98% of America’s income and it’s still increasing, that is 11% (98 -87) of those taxes that must be paid for by the middle class and working poor along with paying our own taxes. If they’re making 98% of the wealth shouldn’t they be paying at least 98% of the tax? Why should they get welfare from America’s working class?

Obviously Chuck wasn’t alive eight months ago when Obama dropped the tax on the working people of America, because he’s still wetting his pants worrying that Obama will ask him to pay his fair share. Yes, I do expect them to affect ME. I expect things to get back to being fair like it was before we started subsidising the wealthy.

2. Health Care — Of course we should have manditory Obama government health care to control costs, raise taxes and surpress another private industry.. We need another bloated govt. agency that has the budget and fiscal success like USPS, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Amtrac, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid (oh, thats right, these three would have been OK but uncle stole the money for other “needs”), etc., etc.. But hey, we’ll all get healthier walking to government clinics, standing in lines and learning to deal with pain while awaiting for our lottery number for that surgical procedure like our socialist country friends.. Besides, if you are over 65 and retired you don’t “contribute” enough in taxes or to the “public good” so of what use are you!!!

I am quite sad to see how little you think of America. Yes, we have some problems that we could clean up, but all in all I think America is a great nation. I wish you did, too. Someone has been nurturing some real hatred in you for your country.

I’m guessing Chuck has been nursing on the crap that Fox spews and the rest of the corporate media repeat. These are all lies and misconceptions. In fact, go to one of the many websites that try to set straight the lies. Any of these, these, these, or these would be a good place to start educating yourself.

The fact that this information is so freely available from the US government, I’m guessing Chuck hasn’t even tried finding the truth from the lies.

And, who do you think is going to pay for the national health reform? How about if the rich start paying their fair share, like Obama wants? Oh, that’s right, we can’t expect the rich to pay their own way, can we?

And, lastly, I bet we would all prefer any of these troubled organizations writing out my medical checks rather a billionaire CEO denying our claims so they can make more money but I’m sure that’s obvious.

3. Christian Nation – Of course we are not.. The 86 percent of the population that thinks we are just “cling to their bibles and guns” in times of stress anyway.. Therefore, ignor [sic] all those laws and rules in our judicial system, Constitution and Amendments because they have a basis in “morality” which comes from religion — bad!!!!

“Clinging to Bibles and guns.” You mean like McViegh and the Oklahoma City bombing by Christian radicals or others that have been discussed here, before?

If you think you get morals from religion, you’re sorely mistaken. Open your eyes. Are these the Christian morals you find in our constitution? No, you’re probably ignoring these. Please start naming them.

4. Immigration Control — Why?? You can’t be the Leader of the World until they are all here – “Come on Down” as they say on the game show..

This is another topic that we all agree on. Let’s find some common ground. Nobody wants illegal immigrants taking our jobs. Obviously we can’t build a big enough fence or murder enough to discourage them. The only way to discourage illegals from taking our jobs is to shut down the businesses that hire them. No jobs? They’ll all go home.

5. Military — Unnecessary… They just cause trouble, scare my friends and take money from our progressive agenda!!!

Our founding fathers would be horrified to know that we had a standing army during times of peace. That’s what the well-trained militia was supposed to be. Now we are controlled (more than half of our tax dollars spent to feed it) by the industrial military complex. We spend more on military than the rest of the world COMBINED!  Know that every dime spent there is a dime that isn’t being spent to make America a better place.

6. Pelosi Recommendation – Move the Capitol to San Fran. so I don’t have to wasted my time flying back and forth at least twice every week in my customized private Air Force jet!!!! The auto exec’s used to do that but we fixed them and are working on Wall Street and the finanical industry!!

Oh, please! Can you be serious?

6. Bowing and Apoligizing – We’re bad, really bad, and “I” know how to tell everyone that you greedy freedom and liberty loving capitalists are sorry… Ignor [sic] that as a nation, we have contributed more aid of every type, both foreign and domestic, than all other contries [sic] combined but YOU can do more and WE will arrange that!!!!

Please try to stay focused. Bowing and contributions and arrange for me, all in one breath? Nobody is saying we’re really bad. Can we and should we improve? The majority of American believe we can and should.

As for us being great contributors, this is so misleading. Americans spend most of our donations paying for million-dollar churches and paying the pay checks of billion dollar con artists. However, we, as a nation are the stingiest of the industrialised countries.

Etc., etc., etc…..
Comrade, I know these “truths to be self-evident” (because my Czars, tax evading appointees, lobbists [sic] and Chicago thugs told me so)!!!

Ah, yes, I believe this is another area where we can all agree: our broken government. Lobbyists are destroying our representative government. We need to get money out of our election process and corporate lawyers out of our Supreme Court. You know, the Supreme Court is soon to be deciding if multi-billion dollar corporations and international corporations should have freedom of speech by buying as much political advertising as they see fit. We need to get the lobbyists out of our government, we need to get money out of our elections and we need to get corporate lawyers out of our Supreme Court.

Harold Estes

The Republican party is up their old tricks, exploiting our great veterans for their political gain. Shame on them. I got this in my email today:

WW II Battleship sailor tells Obama to shape up or ship out !

This venerable and much honored WW II vet is well known in Hawaii for his seventy-plus years of service to patriotic organizations and causes all over the country. A humble man without a political bone in his body, he has never spoken out before about a government official, until now.

He dictated this letter to a friend, signed it and mailed it to the president.

Dear President Obama,

My name is Harold Estes, approaching 95 on December 13 of this year.  People meeting me for the first time don’t believe my age because I remain wrinkle free and pretty much mentally alert.

I am amazed, angry and determined not to see my country die before I do, but you seem hell bent not to grant me that wish.

I can’t figure out what country you are the president of.

You fly around the world telling our friends and enemies despicable lies like:
” We’re no longer a Christian nation”
” America is arrogant” – (Your wife even
announced to the world,”America is mean-
spirited. ” Please tell her to try preaching
that nonsense to 23 generations of our
war dead buried all over the globe who
died for no other reason than to free a
whole lot of strangers from tyranny and
hopelessness.)

I’d say shame on the both of you, but I don’t think you like America, nor do I see an ounce of gratefulness in anything you do, for the obvious gifts this country has given you.  To be without shame or gratefulness is a dangerous thing for a man sitting in the White House.

After 9/11 you said,” America hasn’t lived up to her ideals.”

Which ones did you mean? Was it the notion of personal liberty that 11,000 farmers and shopkeepers died for to win independence from the British?  Or maybe the ideal that no man should be a slave to another man, that 500,000 men died for in the Civil War?  I hope you didn’t mean the ideal 470,000 fathers, brothers, husbands, and a lot of fellas I knew personally died for in WWII, because we felt real strongly about not letting any nation push us around, because we stand for freedom.

I don’t think you mean the ideal that says equality is better than discrimination.  You know the one that a whole lot of white people understood when they helped to get you elected.

Take a little advice from a very old geezer, young man.

Shape up and start acting like an American.  If you don’t, I’ll do what I can to see you get shipped out of that fancy rental on Pennsylvania Avenue.  You were elected to lead not to bow, apologize and kiss the hands of murderers and corrupt leaders who still treat their people like slaves.

And just who do you think you are telling the American people not to jump to conclusions and condemn that Muslim major who killed 13 of his fellow soldiers and wounded dozens more. You mean you don’t want us to do what you did when that white cop used force to subdue that black college professor in Massachusetts, who was putting up a fight?  You don’t mind offending the police calling them stupid but you don’t want us to offend Muslim fanatics by calling them what they are, terrorists.

One more thing.  I realize you never served in the military and never had to defend your country with your life, but you’re the Commander-in-Chief now, son.  Do your job.  When your battle-hardened field General asks you for 40,000 more troops to complete the mission, give them to him.  But if you’re not in this fight to win, then get out.  The life of one American soldier is not worth the best political strategy you’re thinking of.

You could be our greatest president because you face the greatest challenge ever presented to any president.

You’re not going to restore American greatness by bringing back our bloated economy.  That’s not our greatest threat.  Losing the heart and soul of who we are as Americans is our big fight now.

And I sure as hell don’t want to think my president is the enemy in this final battle.

Sincerely,
Harold B. Estes

When a 95 year old hero of the “the Greatest Generation” stands up and speaks out like this, I think we owe it to him to send his words to as many Americans as we can. Please pass it on.

How very sad to see an American political party trying to make political points by exploiting the delusions of this poor older veteran, and then they have the audacity to ask us to forward their lies. Such immoral political parties should be banned.

Hopefully, soon, if we can fix health care, he may be able to afford the medicines he needs to step back into reality.

Where does one start when there are so many misconceptions, deceptions, and outright lies? How about at the top?

1. America is not and has never been a Christian nation. It was founded to be a nation of all or even no religion. How many times do you see Christ or the Bible referenced in the US constitution? Never. Wonder why? Even a grade school graduate knows this to be a fact. Why are there people lying to us about this and asking us to forward emails about it?

2. If you don’t think America is mean spirited, you haven’t been paying attention. That is primarily what Fox new is. This is so obvious that no one could really miss the fact.

3. Imagine being so deluded to think Americans would believe that a man from a poor single parent family doesn’t feel gratitude. He has expressed gratitude repeatedly. Turn off Fox news and wake up.

4. It’s nice to have a president acting like a president rather than a war criminal. The majority of America are glad to have Obama representing us. Anything is better than the past eight years. Many US presidents have been diplomatic enough to show respect for the customs of visiting dignitary (like bowing). Where was the outrage when Bush was out there holding hands and kissing Saudi kings and princes on the mouth? Remember Saudi Arabia? The country where the 9/11 terrorists came from?

5. America is obviously not living up to our usual standards when so many people are so weak and frightened by terrorists that any Muslim in the news turns into the next terror plot. We are not all afraid of our shadows and there’s no reason to demand that our leader be so weak. “We have nothing to fear but fear itself.”

6. Yes, please bring back the economies we had after the last Great Depression. Bring back the New Deal, the committees that oversee the excesses of the banks and the criminality of the insurance industry. Please bring back the bigger more effective government. Our country has fallen apart because people have been listening to the “smaller government” fools. How do you think we got in this mess?

7.And finally, any president that just takes whatever his appointed generals tell him should be immediately impeached. Bush, you know, the one who never served even though he was enlisted? AWOL? He replaced the generals he didn’t like in order to hear what he wanted. Look what a mess that has created. Two more Vietnams and despised around the world. America is lucky Obama knows better and questions his generals. If you’ve ever been in the military, you know that generals advance their careers during wars, not during peace so of course they prescribe more war.

There is so much more wrong with this rant but I’m tired.

A Fair Tax

A Fair Tax
by
David Schlecht

What is a fair tax?

I’m not surprised when I hear the rich crying and whining about having to pay their fair share. After all, our broken predatory capitalist system requires people to be immoral and predatory to be successful and we wouldn’t expect anything less when it comes to paying back for the wealth this country has given them. What, then, is fair?

Let’s take the plight of the poverty stricken worker, making some CEO rich while she raises her family in poverty. When she goes to the grocery store, she pays sales tax, usually in the range of 7-10%. In other words, this country is taking food off the tables of the poor in order to pay taxes. Another way to look at this is to say that 100% of the poor working mother’s discretionary spending (money she doesn’t need to survive) is spent on taxes. The middle class has a negative savings rate. In other words, all the middle class’ money is going to pay for their dwindling “American Dream”. How much of their discretionary spending is eaten up in taxes? Obviously 100%. This is immoral for so many reasons. How can a society tax their people to death? Shame on us.

Okay, so our government, pandering to the rich, have decided that it’s okay to tax people 100% of their discretionary income. Well, then that means 100% of what the rich make, after paying for a meager middle class life style, should be taxed. But, no, instead the poor and middle class are paying the taxes for the rich. The uber rich are paying about 10% of their discretionary income in taxes while the rest of the country is paying 100%.

If we’re in agreement that we don’t want to tax anyone 100% then it should be pretty obvious that the only moral solution is to levy taxes proportionate to the amount of discretionary income. This is called a progressive tax. In other words, the tax progresses up as the income goes up.

Back in the days when this country used to function successfully, we had a top marginal tax rate of over 90% on the uber rich. Isn’t it time we went back there? Isn’t it the moral thing to do?

Sales taxes, on the other hand, are regressive. They affect the poor considerably more than the rich. Fuel taxes affect the poor disproportionately. Property taxes should be more progressive, with low cost primary homes paying nothing in tax but million-dollar mansions pay a high percentage.

Do Something Good for America

Do Something Good for America
by
David Schlecht

So, let’s see if I get this correct. The Republican representatives in Congress have, as their primary goal, to obstruct Obama. It doesn’t seem to matter what’s best for America, it’s all about stopping anything the Democrats want, even though it’s what America wants.

Certainly they know that America voted for Obama and voted for change. By doing everything in their power to prevent this change, to prevent the will of the American public, the Republican party is becoming increasingly disliked and despised, even by those who have voted Republican all their lives.

This is not the Republican party that America needs and America is waking up to it. We need the real Republican party back.

You know the old adage, “Power Corrupts”, well it can be seen as plain as day from the past 8 years of Republican rule and we are now beginning to see it in the Democratic party. That’s why we need at least two parties.

Republicans, is it time to take back your party, yet?

How Far Gone is America?

How Far Gone is America?
by
David Schlecht

In today’s news I read that 20 Democratic and 22 Republican Congressmen got their talking points from an international corporation and dutifully spewed them out and into the official congressional record.

Is our system already too corrupt to save? Does big business already have too strong a grasp on our government for us to ever wrestle it away? Have we been asleep at the switch so long that there’s no stopping this train wreck?

I used to say watch out because American corporations have taken control of the Republican party and of the tea baggers. Now it’s obvious big business has its tentacles deep within our entire government.

Voting isn’t enough any more. We have to get outraged enough to scare the crooks out of control. As the insurance industry and banks have demonstrated, they won’t give up without trying to bring our country down with them.

Do you ever wonder why we can’t get our country enraged and engaged like we were back in the 60s? It’s because we no longer have a media. In the 60s there were lots of news reports about demonstrations and riots. Today, it’s all just glossed over. The only demonstrations you read about now are the tea baggers demanding more money and more control for big business, for the banks, for the insurance industry.

How far gone are we? Too far?

The Trouble with our Courts

The Trouble with Courts
by
David Schlecht

Our federal judicial system is in peril. It’s an absolute disaster. And, it’s a train wreck heading straight for us and we better fix it soon or it will be too late.

There are two prongs to this disaster.

First, the federal courts have been packed with the same right-wing ideologues who have brought us our current disaster.

The courts are packed with corporate lawyers.

This means that more and more cases being appealed from jury courts are being decided outside the jury system with right-wing nuts. And these nuts have life-time appointments to the courts they control.

Remember when the Supreme Court decided Bush was president regardless of what the Florida votes totaled? This couldn’t have happened in any court that was interested in laws or the constitution. And this is just one of countless appellate courts that is over-represented by right wing nuts.

When the Supreme Court screwed America over the 2000 election, the America people should have marched on Washington DC. But our silence has only emboldened the nuts. We should have impeached every judge on the Supreme Court who supported the 2000 judicial coup.

During the criminal reign of the Bush years, Democrats in Congress allowed more nuts to take court judge positions by making them promise to be good. How stupid can that be? Now Roberts has proven to be as crooked as the rest of the Supreme Court right-wing nuts even though he promised. It’s time, today, to impeach him for breach of contract. And then we should send him to prison for lying to Congress.

Secondly, when we found out that Bush had fired all the Attorneys General who refused to pursue false cases against Democratic candidates and ignore bonified cases involving Republicans, we were horrified. You know what? Most of those Attorneys General are still in place, even though Bush is long gone.

Why isn’t Obama cleaning them out? Does someone have Obama over the barrel? It sure looks like it.

Of course, we all know that the Republicans in Congress are stalling all attempts to get new appointees in the justice system but Obama isn’t pushing hard enough. America can chew gum and walk at the same time. We can do Health Care and clean out the corruption on the justice system at the same time.

What happens if Republicans regain Congress in 2010? What happens to all this corruption? It get cast in stone never to be cleaned out again.

By the way, check out Don Siegelman’s case here and here. He’s being pursued by the same nuts that were put in place by the Bush administration. It’s time to clean the right-wing nuts out.

Truth and Honesty

Truth and Honesty
by
David Schlecht

Reading Captain Jack’s article about the statistics that Republicans are more susceptible to deception brings up a similar and interesting fact.

There is an entire industry that has sprung up to shed some truth on the lies coming out of the National Republican party. Look around and you will find countless books, websites, periodicals and more geared at exposing the “con” in conservative.

On the other hand, there is nothing but a few disperse corrections to statements and allegations made by the democratic party. Heck, even the name “Democrat Party” is a lie by many republicans trying to make the name sound bad or unacceptable, but there is no such thing as the Democrat Party. It’s another Republican lie.

So, this is just plain, simple evidence of the conservatives’ weakness in reasoning. And the Republican party is using that weakness to keep their followers fired up about, well, lies.

Of course, if you’re a Republican reading this, I’m sure you will think this doesn’t apply to you.

Sure, there are a few Democrats who are susceptible to deceptive political parties, but not many. There are also a few Republicans who are NOT susceptible but not many.

Just consider the lies coming out of the Republican propaganda network, Fox. The lies have even been exposed in court and the viewers still watch and still believe them.

It should be a crime for the Republican party to be taking advantage of people’s weaknesses. It is not illegal but it certainly is immoral. What a party.

Quiz

Quiz
by
Captain Jack

Let’s have a little fun with a short little quiz. It’s more of a personality test, but it’s fun just the same.

1.   How susceptible are you to deceptive marketing and sales techniques? A lot? A little? Not much? Not at all?

I can predict with 90% certainty that if you replied “Not at all”, you are the most susceptible. It’s a proven fact that those who know they need to be on the lookout for deception are best able to spot it and avoid it. Those who feel they aren’t at risk don’t watch.

I can also say that the majority of you who said “Not at all” are Republicans. More on this shortly.

2.   Does the term “War on Drugs” mean more to you than saying “A concerted campaign to fight drugs”?

3. Does the term “War on Poverty” mean more to you than saying “A concerted campaign to fight poverty”?

What is the “war on drugs”? What is a war without boundaries and armies? It’s nothing but a deceptive marketing campaign.

Now for the kicker…

4. Does the term “Global War on Terror” mean more to you than saying “A concerted campaign to fight terrorism worldwide”?

If you said yes to either #2 or #3, you certainly said yes to the last one.

What is the War on Terror? What are the boundaries? Where are the armies? There is no war, it’s just another marketing campaign.

Being susceptible to deceptive sales schemes has little to do with intelligence. The smartest people can fall prey to deceptive campaigns.

So why do I say Republicans are more susceptible to deceptive sales pitches? The answer lies in a well known research known as “The Authoritarian Followers“. It’s rooted in a Conservative’s need to follow orders and respect authority.

So, if the Global War on Terror is a hoax, then how can we be saying anyone is an enemy combatant? The world is full of crazies like Timothy McVeigh who want to kill lots of people to bring about one change or another, but by the end of the day, they’re all just common criminals, sure some are more deadly than others but murder is murder. And criminals should have their day in court in order to save the innocent from years of confinement and torture.

Trying Terrorists in Criminal Courts

Trying Terrorists in Criminal Courts
by
Captain Jack

So Obama wants to try Khalid Sheik Mohammed in America’s criminal courts like Clinton tried McVeigh in criminal courts. Should we? Isn’t he a terrorists? Isn’t he supposed to be tried like an enemy combatant?

I must ask you, if he’s a combatant, what war is he a warrior of? Iraq didn’t attack us on 9/11 and neither did Afghanistan. So, who is he a warrior for?

I’m sure you’re not going to say he’s a warrior for the enemies of our war on terror. There is no “war” on terror just like there’s no war on drugs and no war on poverty, it’s just a marketing brand.

Should he be granted the rights defined in America’s constitution? He’s a terrorist for crap’s sake.

Well, for anyone who graduated elementary school, you’ve certainly read the constitution and you know that our freedoms apply to “persons” not just American citizens. So, the answer is, yes, of course he gets his day in court, and a real court, not a kangaroo court or military tribunal.

But the thing that pains me the most is that he’s been imprisoned for about a fifth of his life, much of it accompanied with torture and he has never had his day in court. This is so against our laws that whoever put him in Guantanamo should certainly be shot. Of course, not before he gets his day in court. What makes you think I’m talking about Bush? 🙂

This is a big step in the right direction for America. We’re beginning, just beginning to get some sensibility back in our government. We’re beginning to honor the constitution after 8 long years of criminal administration.

So why is there such a vocal opposition to this? Do so many people really hate what America stands for and hate what’s in our constitution or are they just scaredy pants? Shame on them.

The Free Market Zombie Walks

The Free Market Zombie Walks
by
David Schlecht

Having almost created the second Republican Great Depression, the conservatives are still chanting about how if we had only kept the gas pedal to the floor, we wouldn’t have hit this brick wall. They’re still refusing to admit they almost destroyed this country for a second time. If they never learn they will continue to make the same mistake and as long as America makes the mistake of voting for them, they’ll get what they deserve.

How can anyone really believe the foolishness? I mean really. We remove the safeguards put in place after the last great depression and almost plunge ourselves back into a new one and some people still believe the talking heads that it’s because we didn’t deregulate hard enough or because we took our foot off the gas too soon.

It just goes to show that many people will believe about anything. Take global warming as an example. Anyone who has flown in an airplane in the past ten years knows that the entire sky around the earth is now milky white with carbon. You used to be able to see clear skies all the way to the horizon in a plane. Now it’s all just a sickening haze, and some people just refuse to acknowledge it.

The corporations like American workers competing with China’s slave labor because it makes them rich. So what if it’s destroying America? So what if it destroys our economy, they’ll have their billions. And some people still listen to them and join tea parties to help protect corporate profits. Go figure.

The ant and the grasshoppers

The ant and the grasshoppers
by
who knows. Comments by David Schlecht

Got this in the mailbox today. It’s cute. And it’s well disguised propaganda and it will probably remind you of a certain little industry giving themselves $63 billion in bonuses with our tax dollars…

MODERN VERSION

The ant works hard in the withering heat and the rain all summer long,
building his house and laying up supplies for the winter.

The grasshopper thinks the ant is a fool and laughs and dances and plays the summer away.

Come winter, the shivering grasshopper calls a press conference and demands to know why the ant should be allowed to be warm and well fed while he is cold and starving.

CBS, NBC , PBS, CNN, and ABC show up to provide pictures of the shivering grasshopper next to a video of the ant in his comfortable home with a table filled with food.

America is stunned by the sharp contrast.

How can this be, that in a country of such wealth, this poor grasshopper is allowed to suffer so?

Kermit the Frog appears on Oprah with the grasshopper and everybody cries when they sing, ‘It’s Not Easy Being Green.’

Acorn stages a demonstration in front of the ant’s house where the news
stations film the group singing, ‘We shall overcome.’ Rev. Jeremiah Wright then has the group kneel down to pray to God for the grasshopper’s sake.

President Obama condemns the ant and blames President Bush, President Reagan, Christopher Columbus, and the Pope for the grasshopper’s plight.

Nancy Pelosi & Harry Reid exclaim in an interview with Larry King that the ant has gotten rich off the back ofthe grasshopper, and both call for an immediate tax hike on the ant to make him pay his fair share.

Finally, the EEOC drafts the Economic Equity & Anti-Grasshopper Act
retroactive to the beginning of the summer.

The ant is fined for failing to hire a proportionate number of green bugs and, having nothing left to pay his retroactive taxes, his home is
confiscated by the Government Green Czar and given to the grasshopper.

The story ends as we see the grasshopper and his free-loading friends
finishing up the last bits of the ant’sfood while the government house he is in, which, as you recall, just happens to be the ant’s old house, crumbles around them because the grasshopper doesn’t maintain it.

The ant has disappeared in the snow, never to be seen again.

The grasshopper is found dead in a drug related incident, and the house, now abandoned, is taken over by a gang of spiders who terrorize the ramshackle, once prosperous and once peaceful, neighborhood.

The entire Nation collapses bringing the rest of the free world with it.
MORAL OF THE STORY:  Be careful how you vote in 2010.

Imagine the bank-sters having the audacity to send us a warning about how we vote in 2010 or, heaven-forbid, we lazy grasshoppers might start asking for our money back.

You can’t make this humor up.

Abortion and National Health Care

Abortion and National Health Care
by
David Schlecht

Like it or not, all of us paying taxes in America pay something to things we don’t agree with. Count on it!

Some people don’t like money going to pay for white people, some don’t like money being spent on black or brown or yellow or polka-dotted people, some don’t like money being spent on defense, some people want to live in a third world country and don’t want to pay taxes at all or want a small government.

The argument that you don’t like your tax money being spent to provide safe and legal abortions is no different than the rest. Just because you would prefer women have to get abortions in the back alley butcher clinics doesn’t mean the rest of America is that backwards. The rest of America does not want America to be a third world country.

We’ve discussed the thorny issue of abortion, here, in the past, but this is getting worse rather than better.

A handful of America’s third world country representatives have introduced an amendment to the new national health care bill to prevent safe abortions, and many spineless democrats went along with them. This is criminal. For all those who voted for it or who hoped for it, perhaps you all should see your family members raped and have no recourse but to raise the rapists children, or to see your daughters die at the hands of some back alley clinic.

Now, I realize that this may sound harsh, but it’s no more harsh than wanting to deny abortion services to those who need it.

We have a serious sickness in American politics and it’s destroying our great country. If we can’t get the kooks out of our politics, we don’t have a future as a country.

Have your say:

Small Government

Small Government
by
David Schlecht

You hear so many conservatives and libertarians chanting for smaller and smaller government. In other words, less and less of “we the people”. Sad.

So what if we actually were foolish enough to listen to them.

If you think that big business already has too much control over our government, imagine what would happen if “we the people” were even weaker than we are now. There would be no stopping these tyrants and gluttons.

Weaker government means stronger corporations.

Just a quick obligatory post regarding last night’s elections.

At the risk of stating the obvious, here’s how it all shakes out. A democrat who runs as a democrat wins, but a democrat who runs as a moderate or a republican will always lose.

Get PROGRESSIVE and get elected.

Obama, are you paying attention?

So, is there still anyone out there who doesn’t believe that Fox is just a propaganda network? Check out this case. Fox reporters refused to rewrite their story condemning Bovine Growth Hormone to instead glorify it and were fired for their refusal. Google it if you want more information on Fox Lies.

In a case decided by a jury of their peers, Fox was found guilty. However, when Fox appealed it to a higher court, the judge (mind you, no jury) found in favor of Fox. Sounds to me like an appellate court judge should be investigated.

The bottom line, Fox Lies.

Stand up and be a Republican

My earlier post regarding the Republicans’ attempt to silence the victims of gang rape by defence contractors points out that Nevada’s Ensign supports the effort to keep the victims silenced, but as it turns out, there are a whole lot of Republican representatives that voted to keep the gang rapes secret.

Take a look at the list and see if your representative is there.

If you’re a Republican voter, this should give you an opportunity to realize that your party does not represent you.

In the meantime, you may find this satyrical website interesting, shocking, and at the same time, enlightening. Republicans for Rape.

Okay, I admit, I’m not doing such a good job of toning down the partisan rhetoric, but in some cases there’s just no other way to put it. And just to show that I’m not being partisan on this, here’s a scumbag Democrat who is trying to mess up the works. It’s time to weed him out, too.
