The American Bizarre Party

The American Bizarre Party
Matthew K.

Has anyone else noticed how bizarre the Republican voters have become?

They continue to vote in the worst candidates in American history while watching all their policies crash and burn all the while knowing that they have to buy guns to get the crooks out of office.

How bizarre that they don’t even consider that it would be better if they just quit voting for the candidates that are ruining the country. Then they could sell all their guns and go back to living in the sane world.

The Full Court Press

The Full Court Press
Captain Jack

Look around you and you cannot help but notice that America is not only getting forced further and further to the right, but the further we go to the conservative side of the scale, the worse things get to the average American.

Still, a solid 30% of Americans continue to vote for those bringing down this right-wing austerity on our heads and wonder why things continue to get worse.

Why are we slipping further to the right no matter how hard we fight back?

A handful of extremely wealthy Americans and transnational entities are making more money off our misery. TheĀ  less we make, the more they make. And they are spending hundreds of millions of dollars buying our politicians and Supreme Court justices, and our new sites, the few we have left. Soon they will all sound like Rush and Fox and O-Liely and Sean Whatshisname.

The Full Court Press is on and it’s almost game over. We don’t have time to sit around and wonder what happened, we have to get mobilized today and get this game back on our court. We are almost out of clock.

U. S. Constitution – The Trouble With the Supreme Court

U. S. Constitution – The Trouble With the Supreme Court
David Schlecht

The troubles America has with the U. S. Supreme Court are numerous and dangerous to the country.

The first branch of government defined in the constitution is the Congress. The fact that it is defined first and that is has the most verbiage is a good indication that the writers of the constitution thought it was the most important.

Article One is four and a half pages where the president, defined secondly is only about a page and a half, where the court is defined third and is less than a half a page of text.

What is the purpose of the Supreme Court? It is simply:

  1. The judicial Power shall extend to all Cases, in Law and Equity, arising under this Constitution, the Laws of the United States, and Treaties made, or which shall be made, under their Authority;
  2. to all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls;
  3. to all Cases of admiralty and maritime Jurisdiction;
  4. to Controversies to which the United States shall be a Party;
  5. to Controversies between two or more States; between a State and Citizens of another State; between Citizens of different States; between Citizens of the same State claiming Lands under Grants of different States, and between a State, or the Citizens thereof, and foreign States, Citizens or Subjects.
  6. In all Cases affecting Ambassadors, other public Ministers and Consuls, and those in which a State shall be Party, the supreme Court shall have original Jurisdiction. In all the other Cases before mentioned, the supreme Court shall have appellate Jurisdiction, both as to Law and Fact, with such Exceptions, and under such Regulations as the Congress shall make.

That’s all that the Supreme Court is supposed to do. It is not supposed to review the constitutionality of laws passed by congress and signed by the president. However, the Supreme Court has set itself up to do exactly that. The smallest and least important branch is pretending to be the most important.

More examples of how the Supreme Court is supposed to be less important than Congress is in Article III:

The Judges, both of the supreme and inferior Courts, shall hold their Offices during good Behavior,

And who decides what is “good Behavior?” Congress.

Nowhere in here does it say they can appoint a friend to be president like they did for George W Bush, even though he didn’t win the election.

If we don’t stop this group, they will have the power to be the only branch of government and they aren’t even elected by the people.

Need something to call your representatives about this week? Tell them to take back the powers of the constitution and tell them that any friends of the Bush family who didn’t recuse themselves from the Bush v Gore case are not serving in good behavior and need to be removed.

Where is All the Money Going?

Where is All the Money Going?
David Schlecht

We see the nation’s Gross Domestic Product go up almost every year. This is an indication in the increase in wealth of the country. That’s how much new product and services we’re creating and selling.

That’s a lot more money each year. So you and I should be seeing our paychecks go up a whole lot every year since we should be getting a fair share of the increased profits.

But our wages are actually going down, especially when compared to our cost of living.

So, where is all this extra money going?

It’s all going to just 100 people, who are greedily hoarding the money while the rest of the country gets poorer. Hardly seems right, does it?

A small select few, just 100 people, received 241 billion dollars more. There’s where the increase in our country’s wealth went.

Well? What are you going to do about it? Are you going call your representative right now, today, and say you’re mad as hell and you’re not going to take this anymore?

Good. Call them today, tomorrow and every day until they start fixing this mess. I will be, too.

How To Save 35,000 Lives

How To Save 35,000 Lives
Captain Jack

Do you want to save 35,000 human lives?

One thing would have made the difference between 35,000 suicides and life.

The number of suicides under Conservative political rule causes a measurable increase in suicides. Why? Oh, come on now, you know why. Just look at what the Conservatives in America are trying to do to grandma, the poor, the unemployed…

Here are the facts, go see for yourself. More people commit suicide when the Conservatives are in power.

Don’t hesitate. The life you save might be your own or someone you love.

Fiscal Farce Avoided

Fiscal Farce Avoided
David Schlecht

I refuse to call it the Fiscal Cliff because that’s just the Republican party’s effort to turn this into a crisis so they can hammer away at America’s social safety net.

So we avoided the fiscal disaster they were so warning us about. But, it didn’t get averted on the 31st and the world kept spinning didn’t it? It wasn’t a cliff at all, now was it?

So, now that it’s been avoided, what is next? Here’s what we can now expect.

The Republican party will use each and every possible excuse to take the economy hostage again. We will see this come up time and again and each time the Republican will try to strip away a little more of America’s core values, you know, the values of caring for one another.

At a time when we need to start demanding that the government spend more money to get us out of this Republican great depression, the Republicans want to cut spending. Does that seem backwards to anyone else?

So, expect more hostage taking.

Expect more demands to cut government.

Expect more demands to cut regulations, and let more people die.

The rich, the real rich, you know, the ones making more than a million dollars a year, well, they aren’t paying any more in taxes. They don’t pay payroll taxes because they take their income as capital gains. In fact, they don’t even pay tax on the income until they actually sell their stocks. And when they do, they’ll still be paying half the tax rate (20%) that the highest workers pay (39%).

The real workers will be paying an additional 2% in Social Security tax but the wealthy will be paying basically nothing for the social safety net.

Those selling multi-million dollar mansions and making more than a quarter million dollars in pure profit will have to pay a couple dollars in Obamacare tax.

To the dismay of the Republicans, the unemployed will get to continue to eat, grandma won’t be thrown under the bus, and the handicapped will not be left to die on park benches.

But, it’s not over. The Republicans will be back in two months demanding more cuts in the American way of life.

We are the richest country in the world and the Republicans are telling us we can’t afford to feed our starving poor. Shame on them.
