Just Say, 'Why?'

Our US Government is Sponsoring Terrorists

by Dave Speck
June 16, 2003

I saw an ad the other day that said buying illegal drugs is giving money to the terrorists. Well, like, duh!

The US government tried outlawing the sale of liquor a hundred years ago. It didn't take them too long to realize that it was about the stupidest idea they ever heard of so they made it legal and got rich off the taxes.

Maybe our government, today isn't as smart as it was a hundred years ago! In fact, I question if they're smart, at all. This ad makes me wonder.

Our government is letting hardened criminals out of our penal systems to make room for some poor guy caught smoking marijuana in the privacy of his own home. Whose bright ideas is that?

Our government is refusing to realize that it's wrong and impossible to prevent the sale of recreational drugs. Why won't they learn? Ask yourself, why won't they learn. Instead of admitting they're wrong, they hold on to the same old song and dance. I once heard someone say, "Insanity is doing things the same old way and expecting different results."

Why does our government outlaw the sale and use of drugs knowing that it's making American citizens buy their dope from terrorists and drug lords? Why?

Is it possible that our wonderful country is run by a bunch of people that are too old to change? Too entrenched, like some awful weed that you just can't seem to pull out? Too blind to realize that you can't successfully outlaw drugs? Is it time for a change?

Let's stop supporting the terrorists! Legalize drugs, regulate them, and tax them. And, most importantly, use those tax dollars to discourage the use of drugs, and create new public rehabilitation clinics.

Or, maybe we should just keep doing things the same old way and expect the results to change, some how.

Is it time for a change?

. . .

Yet Another Addiction

Every penny we spend on oil makes the terrorists richer. Don't fool yourself; no matter where America buys our oil, it all comes from the same market. Oil we buy from the world oil market is oil other nations can't buy, so they buy theirs from the terrorists. Fact is, the oil America bought from the oil markets was helping Iraq sell their oil on the black market.

America is addicted to mid-east oil and America is indirectly giving billions of dollars to terrorists. Every time you go to the gas station, you're giving money to those who have grave intentions of murdering you.

Why doesn't our government try to wean us off this addiction? Is it possible that it's because they are part of the problem, and not part of the solution? Is it possible that the current administration is just too close to the oil industry to suggest cutting back? Would they lose their big political donations?

It's been a year since 9-11 and still no meaningful government efforts to cut back on our oil consumption.

Research into oil alternatives in the automobile industry has stalled. Even Ford has announced that they're abandoning their electric car research.

Now, at a time when we should be working overtime to cut off the money pouring into the terrorists' hands, our government is doing practically nothing!

Why don't we have a graduated tax plan in place that will ensure that we will be free from our oil addiction in the future? Why?

Instead, our government wants us to open Alaska up to the devastating effects of oil drilling.

What's wrong with this picture?

Is it obvious that our American government is making strong, those who intend to do us harm?

Is it time for a change?
