Give a Mouse a Cookie

Give a Mouse a Cookie

Mouse Cookie

What happens if you give a mouse a cookie? Simple!! He’ll demand a glass of milk.

If we give in to the demands of the Tea Party, there is no end to the demands they will force upon America. Our first and only answer must be, not only no, but hell no!

This is still a democracy.

United We Fall

United We Fall
Dave Speck

This post is in response to Mr. Schlecht’s post yesterday encouraging us to reach across the aisle and make coalitions with the conservatives and Republicans. Let’s start by saying that I’m not disagreeing, but rather playing devil’s advocate. Maybe we’re both right in some ways.

[See us on the DailyKos Diaries]

It just might be possible that America is at a crossroad, much like the crossroads of the last gilded era (the 1920s) and the rise of Germany’s Hitler. In both of those cases, there were plenty of followers of the conservative movements. In America, the conservative movement was drowned out by a huge liberal involvement and America recovered from the gilded age with The New Deal which put a stop to the landed gentry and reversed the toxic wealth disparity through laws and taxes. Germany, on the other hand, had a liberal block that was both unwilling and unable to get traction.

In both cases, nothing was gained by compromising with the conservatives. Granted, Mr. Schlecht does not say the word, “compromise” but that seems to be where he’s heading.

What if America’s liberals of the 1930s didn’t reverse course, but rather compromised to just slow things down a little. Would America have rebounded like we did? I would say obviously not. Only by standing true to our knowledge and the facts and demanding that we act accordingly were we able to turn things around.

And, knowledge & facts are the reason that we can’t compromise with those who history & facts prove to be wrong. The conservatives are not driven by knowledge or facts. In fact, they consider anyone possessing such sorcery to be the “elite”. The conservatives prefer their fairy tales of no man made global warming, earth is 6,000 years old, and the church should dictate the laws to the country.

Honestly, I ask you, how does one “compromise” with wrong? You can only compromise if you’re willing to be part wrong, yourself.

We need to forget compromising with those who refuse to listen to the facts. There is no saving those just like there was no saving the Nazis in Germany. They know they’re right regardless of the facts staring them in the face proving they’re wrong. How do you even talk to someone like that?

I say you don’t. We need to get our word and the facts out to those who are willing to listen. If a conservative is so blind that they listen to conservative propaganda like Rush or Fox, then they’re happily ignorant and no amount of facts or coaxing will wake them up.

Instead, we need to be getting our word out to those who know we’re right but just haven’t gotten motivated yet. We need to motivate the 75% of America that know we’re right. The 75% of America who are closet liberals but are just afraid of the word because it’s been demonized so relentlessly by the fact-free conservative media.

Get out there and talk to your family and your neighbors and your friends and get them motivated. And if you can’t get through to them because they’re handicapped by their conservative propaganda, forget about them. Move on to those who might actually be able to believe the facts and learn from history.

Yay Obamacare – I Just Got a Rebate!

Yay Obamacare – I Just Got a Rebate!
by
Dave Speck

What more can I say? Obamacare is working  and working big time. I just got a rebate on the amount that my insurance company was over charging last year. They can’t rip me off for more than 20% profit anymore. My rates are coming down and I’m getting rebates.

You can’t tell me Obamacare is bad. It’s working. Now if we could just get the Republicans to quit wasting time trying to take it away and start working on putting together some jobs programs.

Yay Obama and yay Obamacare. REBATES!

Is Edward Snowden a Traitor?

Is Edward Snowden a Traitor?
Dave Speck

UPDATED

We’ve all heard the news stories by now about how Mr. Snowden exposed the NSA for wide-scale spying on innocent Americans without warrants.

Now we’re hearing some people come out and say Snowden is a traitor.

Is he?

Let’s start by asking what it means to be a traitor. It’s simple. Traitor is defined in the American constitution as aiding the enemy in a time of war.

We have declared war against no one. Telling the American people that they are being spied upon by their own government, illegally, is not giving the enemy aid, unless you consider the American people to be the enemy.

So, the answer is simply, NO! Snowden does not meet the definition.

If you are hearing people saying he is a traitor, know that those people are either liars or morons. How could anyone not know the answer?

But if you’re hearing that he is a traitor, and the person saying so is a news source or a politician, you need to stop listening to the morons and imbeciles. And more importantly, if they are politicians calling him a traitor, it’s time we voted those idiots out of office. Make sure all of your friends or family know the politician is an idiot and needs to be removed.

UPDATE:
Why are we even talking about this. The real topic is why is our government spying on us illegally? It’s plain as day. It’s against the constitution yet our elected politicians are doing it. It has to stop and we have to make them stop.

Sandoval Against the Nevada Voter

By Dave Speck

The Nevada voter voted for reasonable gun control. The representatives of Nevada voted for reasonable gun control.

What did Nevada’s governor Sandoval do? He represented the international gun manufacturing lobby an vetoed the will of the people,

Obviously Sandoval doesnot represent those who were fool enough to vote for him.

It is time for reasonable gun control and it is time to replace Sandoval with a representative of the people, and not a representative of the gun lobby.

Tell Nevada Gov Sandoval, Don’t veto universal background checks

The Nevada legislature, in the face of inaction from Washington and at the urging a huge majority of Nevada voters, has passed a law that would require universal background checks for all gun sales in Nevada.

Governor Sandoval has threatened to veto the bill, despite the widespread bi-partisan support for universal background checks from voters and even within the NRA’s membership.

Nevada’s lax gun laws are responsible for thousands of illegal guns flooding the streets in neighboring California. Vetoing this legislation would be a tragedy for all Nevadans, putting them at significantly greater risk of suffering gun violence.

That’s why I signed a petition to Brian Sandoval, Governor of Nevada, which says:

“Gov. Sandoval “Don’t veto SB 221. Stand with 86% of Nevadans and sign universal background checks into law.””

Will you sign this petition? Click here!

Thanks!

America Is Waking Up

America Is Waking Up
by
Dave Speck

It is sad that it has taken this long but it appears that America is waking up and getting involved.  America is sickened by seeing their elected officials voting against the 90 percent who want sensible gun legislation in favor of the obvious minority who are the gun lobby, more commonly known as the NRA.

We are becoming more aware of the degree of our political problems and are getting vocal about it.

Being vocal is good but we can only fix this by getting the right people running for office.  We have to start getting involved in our political parties. Either party.

This week we saw Obama appoint another fox to guard rhe chicken house. OBAMA? WHAT ARE YOU THINKING?

Obama was a better choice than the billionaire candidate but he is not FDR and we sorely need an FDR.

Let’s all get involved in taking our county from the greedy and unethical one party at a time.

What’s Wrong With Hunting

What’s Wrong With Hunting
Dave Speck

We’ve all read the usual complaints about hunting and hunters, from the perspective of the inhumanity through the arguments of empathy, sympathy, and reason. But there is a still darker side to hunting.

We’ve seen humans blowing up other humans and even seen humans stroll into a school and massacre little children.

There’s no doubt that this is wrong. Anyone who does this is sick. There is a disease that enables them to do what most people would find too repulsive.

The disease allows people to kill other people, and not just allows them to do it but makes it fun. Not only were these sick people enjoying what they were doing, they were excited. The excitement even goes so far as to cause sexual excitement in the diseased killers.

Why is it wrong to kill other humans? Why is it wrong to kill children? Is it okay to kill children because they have low IQs? Is it okay to kill adults with low IQs? Is it okay to kill other people’s kids but not your own? Is it okay to kill a distant relative?

You can probably see where this is going. Exactly how far detached must your cousin be before it’s okay to murder them? There is no distance. It’s wrong no matter if they’re our next door neighbors or our neighbors across the world.

All living things on this earth share common ancestors. Everything is our cousins.

Is it okay to murder a cousin because he’s far enough away from your blood line? Of course not. It’s a sickness to even want to kill your cousin. If you’re excited and aroused by killing, it’s a sickness.

It is time for America, and all mankind, to start looking at the thrill of killing others to be a sickness, no matter how distant the relative is. It’s a sickness that infects all of society. We must quit treating hunting and murder as a choice rather than a disease.

New Years Resolutions

New Years Resolutions

Dave Speck

What are your new year’s resolutions?

Here are a few you might want to consider.

  1. Contact your representatives about the important issue of the day. This gives you ONLY 52 things to fix and we all know there are more than that.
  2. Get involved in your local democratic party. Find out why this is so important
  3. Talk to your neighbors about the issues of the day, even the conservatives.
  4. Give what you can to Progressive organizations.

Who Won The Election?

Who Won The Election? – Updated –
by
Dave Speck

You won’t hear about this in the corrupt corporate news but the Democratic party won the past election, not just the presidential election, but also the Senate and the House of Representatives.

Then, why aren’t the Democrats in charge of all three? Because the do-nothing Republicans have used procedural trickery to prevent democracy, they have used Gerrymandering to redraw their states’ geography to prevent the will of the people.

America voted decidedly Democratic in this past election but we must do better. We have to get the Republicans out of the state governorships and state governments so America can clean up the deceit and trickery they are using to prevent our country from fixing ourselves.

Update 1:
The count is now up to 1.2 million more votes for Democrats for the House of Representatives than for Republicans, yet the Republicans control the House. Why?

Nevada’s Dean Heller Voting Record and Positions

Nevada’s Dean Heller Voting Record and Positions

Dave Speck

You’re probably doing some last minute research and trying to decided what Nevadan candidate to vote for. If you’re looking for information on senator Dean Heller, you’ve come to the right place. Dean Heller is running for the Nevada State Senate seat.

Here are some of the issues which represent his proven track record. Remember, when deciding on who to vote for, you have to ignore the ads, forget the promises, and turn off the marketing. Look at his records to know what kind of representative he will be.

  1. Dean Heller not only opposes equal rights for all Americans, but he is funded by some of the most immoral anti LGBT fanatics buying our political process.
  2. Dean Heller, Romney, and other conservatives have received over a million dollars in secret money from organizations of religious fanatics. It’s an investment. What do they expect in return from Dean Heller?
  3. Dean Heller opposes Romney’s abandoning 47% of Americans and Romney’s calling us all names. But when it comes to his voting record, he never votes for the 47% but rather obstructs our votes. Read below.
  4. Dean Heller is sponsored by the those organizations that won’t want us to protect ourselves with responsible gun regulations. Dean heller is bought and paid for by those who would be glad to make a buck even if it means people in movie theaters get shot.
  5. Dean Heller is part of the organized attack on women’s rights. Heller votes against Paycheck Fairness legislation. No reason for second-class citizens (women) to be paid as much as men.
  6. Dean Heller is indebted to billionaire Sheldon Adelson. Who will he represent? Well certainly not the 47% who he has forgotten long ago.
  7. Dean Heller has done more than most other Republican to obstruct any efforts Americans have put forward to fix this country. Heller’s primary objective seems to be to thwart any progress at any cost to you and me. This is why our government doesn’t work. Do we need more of this?
  8. Dean Heller gets big donations from the big oil companies so he is opposed to the billion dollar multinational corporations having to pay their fair share of taxes. That means that you and I have to pay more in taxes to make up for the oil companies paying nothing and that’s just fine with Dean Heller

Why Presidents Missing From RNC?

Why Presidents Missing From RNC?

Dave Speck

Alright, I admit, by now, everyone is probably painfully aware that the RNC didn’t have a single former Republican president speak. Does anyone wonder why?

It seems pretty obvious. Bringing out the former Republican presidents just reminds America what a mess the Republican leave behind when they get in power. There’s no point in shedding light on your weak suit, right? So, let’s hide anyone that might remind the people what we Republicans are really about.

This infographic from ThinkProgress just about tells it all.

I’m Tired of Both Parties Lying

I’m Tired of Both Parties Lying
Dave Speck

I heard a friend say, today, that, “I’m Tired of Both Parties Lying.”

He knows that the Republican party is lying at breathtaking levels right now. But the Republican voters think the Democrats are doing it too.

Well, as always, the media tries to paint a false equivalence but there just isn’t one. The Republican party is festered with deceit. Sure, you might find an exaggeration or two and even maybe a lie from some lone, unheard of Democrat. But it’s not polluting the Democratic party like it’s killing the Republican party.

There is no equivalence. Lying is the only way the Republicans can win. Their platform is against almost everything the majority of Americans want and need. So they can’t run on their programs and ideas, which means they have to run on their lies.

The Democratic party, on the other hand, supports positions that are in keeping with the vast majority of Americans.

  1. Does America want higher taxes for the middle class and no taxes for the Romney Rich? No, but the Republican party does.
  2. Does America want our medical industry disaster fixed? Of course they do. What do the Republicans want? Kill Obamacare. Oh, and they’ll replace it with something some day but they don’t know what and quit asking them.
  3. Does America want poisonous stinking polluting industries regulated? Of course they do. Do the Republicans? Well, no.
  4. Does America want the Free Trade agreements stopped? Do we want to start protecting our industries again? Of course we do and the Democrats have passed bills that would do just that but the Republicans have filibustered them to prevent them from even coming up for a vote.

It’s pretty obvious the Democrats don’t need to lie to get elected and it’s plain as the wart on Romney’s nose that he has to lie to hide his great plans for America

Are We Better Off Than 4 Years Ago?

Are We Better Off Than 4 Years Ago?
Dave Speck

I know we’ve all heard the Republican party saying we’re so much worse off with Obama and the Republican voters conveniently forget that we were on the brink of another depression thanks to Bush. But, here are the headlines from just four short years ago. You know, the Republican era. My how things have changed!

The Media Wakes Up

The Media Wakes Up

Ryan’s acceptance speech at the Republican Convention was so chock full of lies that it would make a normal man blush. No one is too surprised to see more lies.

But what’s wonderful to see is that the media, including the Republican mouthpiece, Fox, is calling it lies, deceit, and falsehoods.

It’s about time. Way to go, corporate media. Let’s all wake up now to the nightmare facing America.

The Trust Me Candidate

The Trust Me Candidate

Dave Speck

So now Romney is saying, oh, just believe me that I’ve been paying 13% taxes for the past ten years.

Really? A whopping 13%? Shameful.

But, more shameful than that is that we know not to believe Romney. He’s been the most deceitful candidate for president in our generation. Gee, no reason to doubt him when he says trust me. Right?

It’s Time to Stand Up

It’s Time to Stand Up

Dave Speck

We have all been silently rolling our eyes at the tragic nonsense coming from the other side expecting that they will quickly realize how insane their comments are. But our silence has only made us complicit in their folly.

It’s time every one of us started standing up and calling out the fools destroying our country, known as the Republican party and the conservatives.

We can no longer afford to be silent when they come up with immature and asinine ideas like saying more shooters in the dark theater in Colorado would have saved lives. That’s just downright ignorant. More shooters would have meant more innocent deaths. It’s time you and I started countering those sick perspectives before they infect anyone else.

When we’re silent, we are purposely allowing the conservative sickness to spread.

When a Republican presidential candidate goes over seas to prostitute himself for donations is so obviously selling out his own country, but you and I sit by silently, amazed that the other side doesn’t come to their senses.

They will never come to their senses as long as we are silent. They will only continue to infect others who might start to believe the endless barrage of lies from the party.

Enough is enough! Stand up and fight against the idiotic ideas coming from the Republicans.

America can’t afford for us to sit idle another minute.
