Technical Difficulties and FUD

Our apologies for the sporadic availability, recently. We finally finished up the last of our fixes and we are back up to full speed. During the past two days we’ve been experiencing problems with our mail service as well. Of course, if disaster is to strike a web site, you can count on it happening at the most inopportune time, such as Thanksgiving weekend.

But, alas, we’re back.

The process of diagnosing and fixing the problems was horribly telling of our “winter of discontent.”

As it is with most Internet facing computers, when things break, the first thought is to check for malicious break-ins. It wasn’t that long ago when malicious attacks were the last things suspected, even on computers. But, today, we suspect crime before all else.

What’s wrong with this picture?

Is this any way to view life? What an awful place this world has become if we suspect evil before all else.

It doesn’t help that the media is constantly cultivating Fear, Uncertainty, and Doubt. FUD sells advertising space.

How do we get America and the Internet back to being a place we’re safe strolling through?

By the way, ours was a hardware problem.

Palin: ‘Obviously, We’ve Got To Stand With Our North Korean Allies’

Palin: ‘Obviously, We’ve Got To Stand With Our North Korean Allies’

Does anyone really think Palin is presidential material? If so, you better have your head examined.

She doesn’t just occasionally slip up but is constantly wrong about everything relating to the world around us. The latest, she reports that we need to stand with North Korea. You know, the enemy of our alley, South Korea.

She doesn’t just slip up sometimes but is constantly wrong. Imagine if she really was running for president. God help us!

As I’ve said before on this blog, Americans agree on a whole lot more than we disagree. If we are ever going to take back our country from the mega greedy billionaires and multi-national corporations, we are going to have to find ways to come together.

This is not a partisan issue. In fact, this is all about finding things to agree on.

If we can’t unite, the enemies win. No, not al Qaeda, or the brown people. The enemy of Democracy is the landed gentry and the multi national corporations trying to control and destroy it.

And, how are they winning this class war, as they call it? By dividing us. If you see people trying to divide the Republicans from the Democrats, the liberals and the conservatives, the left and the right, they’re playing right into the hands of the enemy. Divide and conquer.

Certainly there are things we can and need to disagree about, but it’s important that we all realize the difference between disagreeing and being divided. When we feel the other party can do no right, when they’re wrong about everything, when you just can’t help feeling anger and hated for them, then you’re letting the enemy win.

Some politicians and TV hosts do everything they can do to divide us. They harp and harp and harp on wedge issues to get people in the fighting spirit. When you see or hear anyone saying hateful things about those who think differently than they want you to think, it’s time to stop and take notice. What they’re doing is harm to America and by not turning them off and asking to have them turned off (at your doctors office or accountants), then you adding to the harm the enemies are doing to our country.

It’s not all Republican and it’s not all Democratic. Both partied have some good players and both parties have lots of harmful players. The rich and powerful have taken over both parties. Look at who runs the White House, no matter what party is in power. It’s the banks and the multi-national corporations.

Who is losing billions and billions of dollars a year in media outlets that no one believes? They’re not really losing the money. It’s an investment in buying the country. The more lies they can tell, the more unsuspecting people they can convince to vote against their best interests.

Sure, we all have our differences but let’s put them aside long enough to take back our country.

TSA Whole Body Scanners

For the benefit of those unfamiliar with the US constitution, here is the preamble, the single sentence which sets the purpose and tone of the entire document:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice [for wellbeing of the people], insure domestic Tranquility [for wellbeing of the people], provide for the common defence [wellbeing of we the people], promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty [wellbeing] to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Note that the comments are mine. From this it is obvious what the founding fathers considered the purpose of government: it is a system by which we can and must provide for the wellbeing (welfare) of we the people. Any politician who says Welfare or Social Security are unconstitutional or Socialism are either sick in the head or are just outright liars. Hmm, what political party has created an entire industry exposing their lies?

What does the constitution say about the naked body scanners or punitive, invasive and insulting grope searches at the airports? Amendment 4:

Amendment 4 – Search and Seizure. Ratified 12/15/1791.

The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Well, that seems pretty obvious doesn’t it? Random and required searches are unconstitutional.

It begs a question: Why are the American people of today so quick to give up the freedoms our forefathers fought and died for? Giving them up will require more people fighting and dying to get them back in the future if that will even be possible. We aren’t even demanding a vote to change the constitution. We’re just silently throwing the whole thing away.

It’s time we all got upset enough to draw a line in the sand and say, “this far and no further!”

Reading this morning’s NY Times (you know, that bastion of LIBERAL MEDIA) I see that objecting to the nude image scanners creates a target for terrorists. Are they really that stupid? Why didn’t the NY Times question the sanity of that comment from the TSA?

So, will America draw the line in the sand or just go quietly into the night? The point of no return is upon us. Never before in America’s history has the population been so uninvolved in preventing the destruction of our country, our rights, our constitution.

What legacy are we leaving for our children and grand children?

Another Look at This Election

Just prior to this year’s elections, on October 20th, Americans were polled and a huge groundswell of anger and disappointment was reported. Asked if the Republican party in Congress was doing a good job, America responded 31% approved, 57% disapproved, and 12% were unsure. Asked about if the Democrats in Congress were doing a good job, 41% approve, 47% disapprove, and 12% were unsure.

Think about that for a moment.

57% think the Republicans are doing a lousy job and 47% think the Democrats are. Those are huge numbers. With this many people feeling disenfranchised, America is on the brink of a revolution. Hopefully, not a violent one but most certainly a revolution at the ballot box.

This accurately explains the success of the crazy Tea Party. People are beginning to think that even the total nut jobs can’t do any worse than our two major parties and I say they’re right.

One party is hell-bent on making the rich and powerful more rich and powerful and the other party is too spineless to do anything about it. You know which party is which. No wonder the American people are pissed off.

The Republicans have benefited from and even helped cultivate this anger but that doesn’t make them any less despised than the Democrats. Quite the opposite, they will continue to be hated more than the Democrats and next election may just be the rise of the third parties.

For America’s sake, I hope we see it soon.

But we need a party like the Tea Party except one that’s not funded and run by big business and the Republican party. America is hungry for new government.

Beware, though. This is exactly how Hitler got in power. We have to be angry but sensible.

Do you agree with the statement that the Republicans in Congress are doing a good job?

So, what are your thoughts on the election results?

I find that the media is calling this a severe blow to the Democrats and a Republican landslide.

In reality, it’s a 10% loss in the Senate and a 24% loss in the House. That’s nothing compared to the 50-75% loss the average worker has lost in his 401K in the past few years.

How can the media, in a clear conscience, call this a landslide?

I think America did pretty well against the hundreds of millions of dollars spent by shadow donors, many from foreign sources and multinational corporations.
