Just Say Why

For Want of a Real Media

Two friends of mine, who happen to be conservatives,  were defending the position that Fox is fair and balanced. These two are otherwise intelligent people. If they can be convinced that up is down and black is white then imagine what the less intelligent viewers think. Marketing works and will get otherwise smart people to do really stupid things. Hummers, Cigarettes, MS Office, e-mail Spam, you name it, and there are people that will fall prey to the marketing. Marketing works. If you hear Charles Manson tell you enough times that he’s Jesus, you’ll start to believe it, just like his other followers did.

Gingrich, today, was spewing some of the most vile poison imaginable about the majority of America. If we had a real media, they would be all over it and Newt would be a has-been. But, instead, the Corrupt Corporate Media bring him on as a true spokesman. I can see that Fox would do that, but if we had real media, the rest of the industry would expose them for the anti-American hate mongers they are, but they just play along. Even news providers that are labeled Left Fringe have Conservative liars that are allowed to spew lies and half-truths without being called on it.

Without a REAL media, America has no chance of surviving this downward spiral we find ourselves in. What ever happened to the motto, United We Stand? Obviously the Republican party has abandoned it for “Hate the other guy”, “Smear the other guy”, “The other guy is the enemy”, and even “Kill the other guy.”

But even the Republican Party wouldn’t be able to get away with this hateful, harmful swill if it wasn’t for the Corrupt Corporate Media giving them a big pass, and in may cases, encouraging it, all for the sake of a few extra sales.

We need to reform, and split up, the media, and we need to do it today, for tomorrow may just be too late for America.

Bailing Out the Auto Makers

Thank you Conservatives for the absolute mess you have made of this country for the past 30 years. Now it’s time for the enlightened Americans to sweep together the scraps you have left of our environment, our economy, our government, our country, and piece back together what we can. I’m glad America is finally opening her eyes to the absolute failure of the Conservative agenda for the wealthy. Are there enough scraps to save our auto industry?

700 Billion Dollars!  That’s what we were told the Conservative Mistake cleanup would cost. Now we’re hearing that we may need another 26 billion just for the auto makers. Many question whether this is a good investment of our children’s tax dollars (since they’ll be paying this off long after we’re gone).

If we think America needs an automobile industry, then of course we need to find a way to save it, and I, for one, think we need an auto industry. But, our auto industry has been in trouble for decades.  In fact, the auto industry management all claim that the problem is the United Auto Workers Union (UAW). The owners say they’re paying their people too much money but they’re not willing to take home any less.

Looking back a few decades, we can see that the auto industry in America was in trouble, back in the 70s. That was the time our auto industry was sitting on their laurels and delivering the same old thing over and over while innovation in other countries was leaping ahead. Around that same time, the UAW was gaining enough support that they negotiated living wages for the workers.

Industry management had to pay their people more but didn’t want to share the wealth so this pushed all the cost of the UAW raises off to the consumer. Inferior cars at a higher price and they were headed for trouble.

They’ve been in trouble since and America even had to bail them out before. If they can’t manage the car companies, then they should retire, but they won’t as long as there’s money in it.

The solution is to use the $25B to buy controlling shares in the companies and give or loan those shares to the workers. Let the workers decide as obviously the management doesn’t know how to make decisions.

Of course, this also means addressing the failures known as the Free Trade Agreements and we need to reevaluate our tariff policies.

I’m the NRA and I Vote

We’ve all seen these bumper stickers. It just smacks of stupidity. Why would people support an organization that would prefer that criminally insane people have high power automatic weapons rather than having to endure a registration process.

Why do so many morons want to risk the lives of all of us with unrestricted access to weapons? Is it because so many of them know that they lack the knowledge or maturity to successfully register a weapon?

I saw another bumper sticker, today, that made me laugh. It read,
“I’m the NRA and I’m a Moron With a Gun”.

I’m all for the freedoms that our government was designed to defend, the freedom to own guns and the freedom to experiment with whatever plants or chemical compounds I want.

But, only a moron would want mentally handicapped people with loaded automatic weapons wandering the streets, just so they don’t have to prove they have what it takes to own a weapon. Morons. Listen, all of you who support the NRA. And, it’s about time the NRA started supporting legislation that kept weapons out of the hands of the sick, immature, (yes, I’m referring to those red-necks with rifles mounted in the cab of their pickup trucks), and dangerous.

But, the NRA never will, because, “I’m the NRA and I’m a Moron”.

The Enemy Within

I just got a new old book from a used book sale, “The Enemy Within” by Robert Kennedy. If he only knew how strong and powerful the “Enemy” has become in these few years since his death.

Today, America has voted in a new president-elect, Obama. This wasn’t just a typical election, but a roaring defeat for the Republican brand. America has said they’re sick and tired of failed Republican rulers and we want to get back to the original founders’ intent of having representatives instead. But, the Republican Party, through their mouthpieces such as Limbaugh, are actively crying for Obama’s impeachment.

Think about that for a moment.

America has voted for a president and a certain political party is bent on subverting the wishes of the American voters by impeaching their representative before he even entered office. What does that say about their support for their country?

I did a Google search, today and found over 1.5 million web pages spouting Impeach Obama.

Can you imagine? 1.5 million sites out there hell bent on destroying America’s free and fair election process. They want their king in power or nobody.

1.5 million. This isn’t just some fringe anti-American group, this is the Republican Party. Just listen to their spokespeople. They are all so hateful of America that they want it destroyed if that’s what it takes to be back in power.

It must be an awful embarrassment to be a Republican these days.

And, don’t think for a moment that it’s not the Republican party. If they objected to this, they would discourage it, but instead they endorse it.

The Center Right

I’ve heard this stupidity repeated over and over in the “liberal media” today. America is “Center Right“. Let me start by saying, how STUPID! What? Are you deaf and dumb?

The Center Right Republicans just got their hat handed to them, their desk cleared out and their walking papers in hand. America doesn’t want your Center Right bullshit any longer. You’re fired. Don’t you understand? You’re outta here! Do we need to call the police to remove you. Be gone!

America has said, in one of the most vocal and obvious ways possible that they have had enough patience waiting for the miracle of the Greedy Free Market and tired of waiting to get getting trickled down on by the sickeningly rich. You’re Fired! Get it yet?

It’s time for the Corrupt Corporate Media to pretend like they’re really reporting the news and fire the blatantly ignorant who keep spouting this garbage.

Congratulations and the Media

Congratulations America for stepping back from the cliff. America has given the Democrats a clear mandate to reverse course and clean up the unprecedented mess the Republican have made of this country. Good on you, America.

The damage is everywhere and much of the damage is self-propagating. Take the press and the media as an example. America will never know the extent of the problems or how or even if it’s fixed if we can’t get the straight truth from the media. Looking at the pundit lineup on the major news channels on election night showed so blatantly how broken the media is.

The first thing we have to do is fix the news media. No more corrupt corporate news media, period. That is the only solution to this.  Small local news outlets with a charter to provide a service to the country is the only news outlets we should allow.

We all know that they hold the education of the voters in their hands and they will wield that power any way that best suits them, so it won’t be easy fixing this, but nothing will get done without it.

Congratulations Nevada, Better than Alaska

Yea! Congratulations, my fellow Nevadans, for turning Nevada blue. There is hope for our great state after all. Alaska? What’s wrong with you?

Nevada voted in a Republican governor who was under investigation for numerous unethical scandals. Now that the state is all but bankrupt, we are beginning to see how stupid that choice was, and we still have years to go before Gibbons is through.

But, compare that with Alaska. Imagine voting in Stevens, a convicted criminal, to the Senate. Alaska, did you do that because you like America? Was that for America’s benefit?

What kind of sick people will vote for a known crook to govern them? Really patriotic of you Alaska. What ever happened to your state? I remember Alaska being real and honest people with serious principles. What happened to you? I guess it comes with being so blinded by the Republican media machine that you can no longer think for yourselves.

Wake up Alaska.

What’s Next for the GOP?

I would say that we Americans have learned our lesson when it comes to Republican Trickle Down Economics, or as others put it, Reagan-mortis. We’ve experimented with making the rich stinking rich in hopes that they will trickle on us some of the love.  After 30 years of waiting for the trickle, our economy and our middle class are in dire trouble. But, will the snake oil salesmen quit selling the poison? Of course not, but here’s what they’ll do.

The GOP is getting ready to throw McCain under the bus and explain to each other that McCain wasn’t a “REAL” conservative.  Rather than admit that there might be something wrong with The Free Market, they’re all blaming everyone else, and when they can’t blame anyone else, they’ll start blaming each other for not pushing the snake oil poison even harder.

Many in the Republican party hope to bring the party back from disaster, but the fanatics have a mighty strong hold on the party and they don’t think they did anything wrong so they won’t change on their own motivation.

What do you call it when someone refuses to learn from his mistakes? Bush? Maybe not, maybe it’s just the America’s contemporary Conservative. And, as the earlier post by Dave goes, there’s still money in that party to continue to try to sell the poison to those of us who continue to listen to them.

I predict that we’ll see the current Conservative, Free Market, Trickle Down fools refusing to relinquish the reigns of the party until there’s nobody left to vote for them. But they will go to their graves explaining how everyone in the parade is out of step but them.

America Needs 60 Democratic Senators

The past 4 years of Republican minority in the Senate has lead to the most obstructionist Senate in our lifetimes. Their strategy was simple (what else would you expect from the GOP?). Obstruct as much as possible and then at the end, turn around and blame it all on the Democrats. Gosh, sounds like the typical Republican strategy for any year, doesn’t it?

However, with a Democratic president, this is their plan ten fold. The plan isn’t to help America, but to do whatever will help their party. This party of immoral thieves has got to shut their doors and the only way that will happen is if America kicks them out. They will always have enough money to come back because there are many wonderfully successful Americans who want it all and want you and me to have nothing, and they will pay big money to make it happen. Look at the greedy who continue to support the Republican party knowing it’s been the cause of EVERY thing going wrong with America today.

The party of fear, the party of hate, the party of division and derision, the party of intolerance, the party of immorality. Yes, it’s time for America to remove their sorry butts from the seats of power.

The rich won’t rule America any longer. We are all America. Vote the crooks out.
