Good question from CLW. I’m not interested in trying to prove a negative. We all know that you can’t. Ever try to prove there isn’t a teapot orbiting Mars? As always, when stating a negative, one typically uses the data that is available to extrapolate. I know many Republicans and none of the many that I have asked know a single Republican who opposed the Bush signing statements, let alone openly objected. In fact, to oppose Bush, meant that you were unpatriotic. Remember? I never once heard about it on Fox, the Republican Media Outlet.

A strawman does not make or break a position. Let us pretend that some Republicans privately or openly opposed Bush’s signing statements. Does this somehow exonerate the party? I think not.

If you can prove me wrong, here, I would be most gracious. There are few things that I would like more than to regain a thread, a mere sliver of respect for the party. Do you know any Republicans who openly objected to Bush’s signing statements?

Don’t misunderstand my position. I am not saying all Republicans are slimy, but the vast majority that I know are and the the party itself obviously is. I know and respect many people with opposing political views and many of them are Republicans. They are not all bad any more than to say all Democrats are good but I don’t know of a single one who opposed Bush’s signing statements.

Interesting post. I have a question, though. You said, “How many Republican voters did that about Bush’ signing statements? Not a single one.”

I’m wondering how you know that not a single voter ever contacted the president or his/her representatives on this issue? Is there a list somewhere that shows every single voter’s contact with the president and members of Congress, and what they discussed? If so, I’d like to see it, and if you’d post that link, it would be great.

The Bush Department of Justice prosecuted Democrats over Republicans 7 to 1. Get that? 7 to 1. Should they all be prosecuted for political malfeasance? Heck yes. But, no, they’re still in Obama’s DOJ. WHY??!!!

The republicans screamed about us being unpatriotic for questioning Bush’s lying us into a war and questioning Cheney’s assassination squads, but now that a soldier doesn’t like whose currently president, he makes stupid comments about Obama’s birth certificate and refuses to fight the terrorists. And the republicans and the republican party raise him up as some sort of a hero. Hate America because you don’t like the president and republicans consider you a hero. YOu can see where patriotism lies on their agenda.

And those 25% hanging on are some really sick and twisted losers. I have a work mate who is so deep in the republican lies and spin that he is going out and buying up sniper rifles preparing for the coming revolution. Sick!
