The Full Court Press
Captain Jack

Look around you and you cannot help but notice that America is not only getting forced further and further to the right, but the further we go to the conservative side of the scale, the worse things get to the average American.

Still, a solid 30% of Americans continue to vote for those bringing down this right-wing austerity on our heads and wonder why things continue to get worse.

Why are we slipping further to the right no matter how hard we fight back?

Because…

A handful of extremely wealthy Americans and transnational entities are making more money off our misery. TheĀ  less we make, the more they make. And they are spending hundreds of millions of dollars buying our politicians and Supreme Court justices, and our new sites, the few we have left. Soon they will all sound like Rush and Fox and O-Liely and Sean Whatshisname.

The Full Court Press is on and it’s almost game over. We don’t have time to sit around and wonder what happened, we have to get mobilized today and get this game back on our court. We are almost out of clock.

Yeah Nevada, Way To Go
by
David Schlecht

Congratulations Nevada, you just might have a chance of pulling yourselves out of the quagmire you find yourselves in. You voted against the Austerity presidential candidate.

Rather than dragging America down to your level, you’ve elected to put the country on a different path than yours.

Now, if you can just make those same decisions on your local elections and get the failed policies out of office.

This is not a political issue, this is an economic issue. You didn’t get were you are by following the mistaken policies of just one party.

But, it looks like Nevada is waking up.

We need to stop letting the elites, the leeches, ride free on our backs. It’s time the rich started paying their fair share. Did you know Microsoft is incorporated in Nevada rather than Washington so they don’t have to pay taxes? So who pays for the infrastructure that they use? You and I do, and the people of Washington. Does Microsoft? No.

This, Nevada, is the reason our state is in such sad shape. The rich get a free ride and the expenses fall on the backs of the true small businesses and on the rest of us tax payers.

We give tax breaks to the mines and other multinational corporations and expect the Nevada taxpayer to pick up the tab.

No more!

It’s time we started expecting the billionaires to pay for the 90% of our state’s expenses that they incur. It’s time their taxes paid for the roads their employees travel, and the roads their trucks use to deliver goods and provide them a profit. It’s time they paid for the court systems and all the other infrastructure they are using and expecting us to cover.

Yeah Nevada, it looks like you’re starting to wake up.

Fiscal Cliff and Spending Cuts

Fiscal Cliff and Spending Cuts

Matthew K.

What does it mean, fiscal cliff?

It sounds pretty scary, like the end of the world or something. But, in reality, it is nothing so drastic or scary. The term is just a marketing term to fool you into thinking emergency measures are needed. So what’s the worst that will happen when we reach the cliff. Nothing. Got that? Nothing.

But, if we all get scared by the hype and think that drastic cuts are necessary, then, yes indeed, bad things will happen, and the effects will be felt for years to come.

Don’t get me wrong, we can’t just sit on our hands. We have to address the mess this country is in and this is the time to do it.

So, what spending cuts should we do?

To start with, no country has ever, EVER cut its way to prosperity. You might want to ponder that for a moment.

So if the solution isn’t to cut, then what do we do?

We do the same thing we did before when we were in debt to the tune of 125% of GDP, which is much worse than we are today. What we did then was we created jobs programs, we invested in infrastructure, we created the GI Bill that sent people to college for free.

That’s what we need to do this time. We need to do what has been proven to work.

But we still need to look at trimming our budget as well. We need to trim the things that aren’t investments in our country and our economy. We need to stop giving money and tax breaks to the rich and the multinational corporations.

This brings us to the real question. What is spending and what is an investment?

You already know the answer to that. If you go out and treat yourself to a nice hundred-dollar steak dinner, that’s spending that is gone the moment you pay for it. But, an investment, like money in the bank, is there for all time, bringing in more money every day.

Spending for a country is the same. If it’s not bringing in a return on investment, it’s spending. The biggest spending we do as a country is spend on our military. We spend more than the rest of the world combined.

And what sort of return do we get on all those bombs dropped? All those missiles fired? Nothing. We are spending, like a short term steak dinner, on almost every dollar we spend on the military.

Money spent on free education is an investment that returns money to our coffers for the entire lifetime of the student. How about social programs like social security? It has been shown that every dollar invested in the people of a country through social programs like Social Security and Medicare are returned at a rate of $1.27 for every dollar invested. That, my friends, is what’s called an investment.

We need to face this fiscal cliff as an opportunity to stop the big dinner spending spree of the military and move that money into investing in our people and in our roads and bridges and our future as a country.

Get Ready For The Ads
by
David Schlecht

Thanks to the Supreme Court and their insane Citizens United ruling, billionaires and international corporations can now spend unlimited amounts of money to drown out your first amendment right of Free Speech. This means that this is the first time in our lifetimes that anonymous donations of hundreds of millions of dollars or even billions of dollars can be spent on blatant lies.

And it’s coming.

In the next month you’ll start seeing a nauseating amount of negative ads, outright lies coming out of your TV and your radio on every billboard and in every advertising platform you can imagine.

Why is this possible? How can billionaires and international corporations defecate on our electoral process? How can they wipe themselves with our first amendment?

Because the Republicans on the Supreme Court (and yes, it was only the Republicans) think that people sick with money should run our country.

You will get sick of the negative ads. And every time you see a negative ad, and it’s brought to you by some corrupt corporation like Americans for Prosperity or Americans for a Better ______, or Concerned Citizens for a Better ___, know that their name is as deceitful as their message.

Once you’ve had enough of these crooks spewing sewage our our democracy, get mad. Donate what money you can to the Democratic candidate that they are slandering. And get mad enough to be sure to get out there and vote against the Republican machine that is trying to give our democracy to billionaires and multinational corporations.

It’s coming, so get ready, and get mad and get rid of those who have brought this crap to America.

Profiting Off Shoot First Laws
by
David Schlecht

Unfortunately, our corporate media is refusing to investigate this so we expose it where we can. Be sure to tell your friends and family who is benefiting from these vigilante laws that make all of us less safe from “Justifiable Homicide.”

Did you ever wonder why all the sudden 25 states have passed almost identical laws giving kooks the right to shoot you and me and get away with it? How could it possibly be that all 25 states thought up the idiocy all at the same time.

No, it’s not the individual states. It’s not a coincidence. There is a profit motive.

The laws in the states have been drafted and sponsored by billion dollar corporations for the purpose of making money.

Have you ever heard of the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC)? ALEC is an organization funded and created by the Koch brothers to gather up legislators willing to prostitute themselves for big businesses. They meet with our legislators regularly and provide them with pre-written bills that they can take back and just plug in.

ALEC has many domestic and international businesses who pay big money to send lobbyists to the meetings and provide laws that will benefit them.

Who would make money by putting more guns in the hands of Americans? You guessed it. These laws have been sent to all the states for ratification on behalf of corporations, the likes of the NRA (the gun sales lobby) and Wal-Mart.

It’s important to not turn this into a political issue, because it’s not. It is an issue with corporations making our country worse for their profit.

Of course, it doesn’t help that ALEC is frequented almost entirely by Republican law makers. But the problem isn’t the party, it’s the fact that our representatives are prostituting their law making powers for big business and against the best interests of you and me.

Again, let me suggest that you tell everyone you can about this because it’s not getting out in the evening news. So much for “Liberal Media”.

The Poison Pill Killing the Post Office

The Poison Pill Killing the Post Office
by
David Schlecht

This story can’t be repeated often enough and it’s important enough that it should be on everyone’s mind and on everyone’s lips.

Five years ago, the Republican party put a poison pill into legislation that is killing the Post Office. The Post Office is now expected to fund medical benefits for their retires FOR THE NEXT SEVENTY FIVE YEARS, all in the next few years.

Think about that for a minute. The next seventy five years means they’re having to put money aside for people who aren’t even born yet and might work at the Post Office.

The purpose of this poison pill is obviously nothing less than an effort to kill the Post Office, the only office that is protected by the Constitution.

The Republicans want to give the Post Office off to one of their rich Super PAKs and they might as well make sure there are billions of dollars in medical saving accounts to give away while they’re at it.

If you’re a Republican, I’m sure you have some excuse about how your party is so unethical and so against everything America and it’s constitution stand for, but you can only lie to yourself for so long.

The Republican Party is not only poisoning the Post Office, they’re trying to poison the entire country and no body is talking about it. Have you heard about this on your Fox news channel? Nah, didn’t think so.

We have got to overturn this awful poison pill and kick the crooked Republicans out of power for the next few generations until they come clean and start working for the better of the country rather then the best interests of their billionaire donors.

Clarence Thomas Thinks He’s King
by
David Schlecht

We Americans all know that our government is rotten to the core. The number of good politicians is a tiny percentage of the body politic and the vast majority of the rest are doing their best to destroy America.

The mand who would be king

We’ve written about Clarence Thomas before. His crimes, big and small, are far above what any country should condone in a government.

There is finally starting to be efforts to bring the criminal Supreme Court judge to atone for his crimes. This is from the CREDO:

U.S. Representative Louise Slaughter is demanding that the Judicial Conference, an administrative arm of the court, uphold the Ethics in Government Act by referring Thomas’ apparent misdeeds to the Attorney General for further investigation.

It’s time we all signed up to make our voices heard. No Supreme Court judge is above the law. Law breakers do not belong in our government and we’re not going to put up with it anymore.

Sign up to have Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas investigated for his numerous crimes.

Fracking and Earthquakes
by
David Schlecht

You won’t see anything of this in the corrupt corporate new but what exactly caused the most unusual earthquake in Virginia this week? You won’t see anything in the news because the news is paid for by fracking industry advertisements.

Do you ever wonder why you are seeing advertisements on TV about the wonders of fracking? Many of the ads don’t even mention fracking, but rather all about the wonders of natural gas. It’s a bribe to the news outlets to not run stories exposing the devastating effects fracking has on the environment.

You will not see the corrupt national news even touch the story. The only way you will find the truth that the corrupt national news doesn’t want you to know is by researching yourself.

Our national media has deserted America.

What Makes Ensign Tick

What Makes Ensign Tick
by
Dave Speck

In an interview before Obama’s State of the Union speech, Nevada’s John Ensign said:

We have the opportunity for neither party to get blamed for these tough political votes which are going to be necessary to cut spending,

You might want to reread that quote a few times and let it sink in.

Here is Nevada’s representative recommending that the president do the opposite of what he was elected to do because he can get away with it.

I’m not exaggerating! Read it again if you need to.

In poll after poll, the vast majority of American’s don’t want the government slashed and burned. The billionaires do. Less government means less government in their way. Smaller government means fewer restrictions to destroying peoples’ lives and the environment for big profit.

John thinks it’s okay to do the wrong thing as long as he doesn’t get caught. This is obvious from his almost getting expelled from Congress for sneaking and hiding his affair and then having his parents pay off the woman and her husband.

Yes through and through, John Ensign is a true Republican, caught in the same deception as so many other Republican politicians.

Hey, Republicans! When will you wake up? Hey Nevada! You know the question.
