Defending the #47Traitors

It is truly shocking to see the Republicans frantically supporting and defending their traitors. Why can’t they just admit that the party is infected and they made a mistake voting for people who openly try to undermine America and our president?

Many Republican voters that I talk with agree that the #47Traitors have gone far beyond acceptable behavior, though they don’t feel it’s right to convict and punish them for their treason or “bad behavior” as some call it.

Still, there are a large number of Republicans out there defending their party no matter how destructive and poisonous to democracy it has become. This unwillingness to recognize the faults of your own traitors makes it plain as day that you are living in a cult. You are past the point of being able to objectively look at your gods.

I, personally, believe that America, all of America needs to quit with the tolerance to destructive behavior by the political parties and more than anything, destructive behavior by the uber wealthy who pull the puppet strings of the parties.

Try the #47Traitors and punish them by removing them from our body politics if found guilty.

And, lastly, even if found not guilty of treason on legal bounds, they have morally committed treason against America and need to be spurned for their crimes.

What would make any American voter think it is okay to blatantly undermine the president let alone  on something  as important as Nuclear War?

Enemy of the People Enemy of the State

An enemy of a country is an enemy of the people’s country. What does an enemy of the U.S. do? They do things the majority oppose. They do things that purposely hurt and or kill Americans. The enemies of the state will lie and produce propaganda to undermine the legitimate government, the one elected by the people.

The Republican  party of today is just that enemy. Let me explain.  The Republicans  have manufactured  one conspiracy  after another to attack our elected  president. Their lying propaganda has manufactured Benghazi, the failed IRS scandal, the Fast and Furious  conspiracy,  the secret Muslim  lie, the Kenyan citizen lie, the whole birth certificate hoax. The real list is too long to publish.

Today’s Republicans are sponsoring foreign politicians to speak at the people’s  congressional house to criticize our duly elected president. This has never been done before in the history  of America.

The Republican  party wants to destroy  anything Obama has done, even if that means not funding our Department of Homeland Security even if that means Americans die.

Today’s Republican party wants to repeal Obamacare, even though it was first proposed  by Richard Nixon,  a Republican  president.  Repealing Obamacare means tens of thousands of Americans will die each year without  health care.

All this treason is done to advance  their political  party at the expense of the country, the people.

The Republican party  is not the only evil at work here. We should condemn the billionaires  who fund them and their propaganda like Fox Lies and Hate Radio. But we need to also condemn those fool enough to fall for their lies.

Who is The Government?

We’ve all heard the dire warnings about the evil Socialism and every time someone suggests something that benefits America’s people, the talking heads all start exploding, SOCIALISM!

What does this mean for the US? What happens if we let SOCIALISM invade our country? Hold on to your horses, but it’s already here.

Socialism is a type of government bent on providing things to allow the citizens (society/SOCIALISM) to improve their lives and their country. In many of today’s countries, this includes things like free education, including college, a guaranteed minimum living wage, housing, and health care.

When did Socialism invade America? It was introduced when our country was created. Listen to the first sentence of the U. S. Constitution:

We the People of the United States, in Order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

Every one of those six items (Justice, Tranquility, defence, Welfare Liberty, better country) are hallmarks of Socialism. You can’t find better proof that our founding fathers wanted a country with Socialist ideals.

So next time you hear some ignorant fool spout about OMG SOCIALISM! remember this and feel free to tell them to shut up.

Are You Paying Attention

The Republicans have been in control of both our houses of Congress now for a couple weeks. They were telling everyone how Obama was destroying American and how they were going to show him.

Well, it’s been weeks now and what are they working on fixing?  Is anyone paying attention?  Are the Republican voters watching to see how wonderful things are?

If they were playing attention they would see that their party has done absolutely nothing to benefit America.  In fact they would see that their party instead has:

  • Attacked Social Security
  • Attacked Net Neutrality
  • Attacked Women’s Rights
  • Attacked American’s Health Care with no plans for any fix
  • Attacked Food For Starving Children
  • But, hey, the one thing they didn’t attack was XL Pipeline for Billionaires

Is anyone paying attention out there?  Are the Republican voters getting what they want?

No. I suppose not.

And, get ready. We’re going to see them and much worse that we could have imagined.

The Oligarchy Is Now In Control

Due to pathetic Democratic turnout in the Congressional election, the Oligarchy is now in control. This is what our elections will look like from here on out, unless we can get money out of politics.

And the only way we can get money out of politics is to get the Republicans out of power. The Republican party loves prostituting for big doners. They have opposed any correction to Citizens United. Many states and cities are passing referendums supporting the overturn of Citizens United but it will have to be done without the support of the Republicans in control.

In fact, liberal ballot measures all across the nation passed with huge margins. Now, ask yourself, if Republicans and Democrats were voting FOR the liberal laws but AGAINST the liberal politicians, isn’t it an undeniable fact that those people are voting against their own best interests? Isn’t it obvious that the unlimited money in politics is making voters into fools, voting for the things they want but against the representatives they need to get those things into law?

It is a fact that negative advertising doesn’t get voters to vote for the opponent, but makes them not want to vote at all. Maybe that’s why this was the lowest voter turn out since 1942.

Why?

Negative advertising.

If you are one of the voters who stayed home, your absence was the same as a vote against anything you want or need. Way to go! You can’t let the negative ads deter you from getting out and voting.

It’s Getting Real

We are coming down to the wire this election cycle. We have one last week of early voting in Nevada.

Let’s all make sure we vote and that two of our friends vote too, and two of their friends…

Many people consider this election less important than the presidential election, but they’re wrong. The constitution creates the Congress to be the strongest and most critical of all three branches of government. There are more pages on the role of Congress than the president and the courts combined.

This election will decide if we want our president to do the things he was elected to do or not.

There are certain political parties that don’t want you to vote. They spare no money on ads convincing you how awful everything is in the hopes you don’t vote. After all, as one political party says, “quite candidly, our leverage in the election goes up as the voting populace goes down.”

Get out there today. This just may be the most important election in your lifetime.

Question #3 Amendment to Nevada Constitution

It is a real disgrace but we are suffering a multi million dollar ad campaign, or should I say lie and deceive campaign against the amendment, Nevada ballot measure, question #3.

I will try to add some reality to the actual question and try to dispel the most common lies and deception. Most of the talking points can be found at their website, Coalition to Defeat the Margin Tax Initiative.

  1.  The tax is a small, contrary to the claim, “huge,” in the lies. 2% is a small tax.
  2.  The tax is only calculated on the gross sales if the company wants to file that way. Even then, it’s 70% of 2% or 1.4%. Not all so huge.
  3.  If the business decides to, they can claim tax only on proceeds after subtracting cost of goods sold (and that includes labor/payroll costs). In other words, a business that is making millions in sales but little or no profit will have little or no tax since cost of goods sold will be almost as much as gross sales.
  4. The money collected will be put in the State Distributive School Account, to be distributed in a manner provided by laws that already govern those funds. There is no risk that the funds will not go to the school district.
  5.  Few if any businesses will have to close or relocate because of this tax. However, if the companies elect to move rather than repaying the community that supports them, then I say good riddance to bad rubbish.

So much for the down side of this ballot measure. Let’s now consider the good:

  1.  It is in the state’s best interest to decouple the school system funding from our property taxes. The way the system works now, those poor communities where property taxes are low have the lowest funding for their schools.
  2. Getting away from the destructive notion that the rich get a free ride in Nevada because we don’t expect them to pay their fair share in income taxes, is a good move in the right direction.  After all, this tax is only for businesses with more than $1 Million in revenue.

OMG!! EBOLA!

We are now seeing Ebola victims in hospitals all across Africa, in Spain, Germany, and the USA, and so many more.

I hear people say it’s Obama’s fault. Well, the same people say everything is Obama’s fault so their arguments are meaningless. But how should we be dealing with this nightmare?

Should we shut down our airports and turn away everyone from every country that might have an Ebola patient? Maybe only the ones with brown or black Ebola patients?

If we decide to shut down the airports, we should also shut down our sea ports. And for that matter, maybe we should just start shooting anyone who looks like they might be trying to come to the USA.

Well, okay, I was being facetious, but these issues have to be discussed seriously and without fear and hatred.

Thomas, the Ebola patient who died in Texas followed screening guidelines. The news at first was reporting that he lied on the questionnaire, but it turned out that he didn’t realize his relative had Ebola at the time. She died later.

This demonstrates and a little common sense indicates that there is no way we can prevent any and every case from coming to the USA. We should be diligent and limit the numbers who come but to expect to get 100% is just a dream.

So, what do we do to successfully manage this disease once it’s come to the USA? Obviously what we’re doing now isn’t working. The health care worker who worked on Thomas has now come down with the disease. Again, obviously what we’re doing now isn’t working.

We need a national health care system that can work as a unit, following guidelines for preparing for the incoming patients and guidelines on how to treat the patients. This can’t be done on a for-profit basis. Why would a hospital pay the money up front to prepare only to find that they never get an Ebola patient. Thomas was turned away from the hospital on his first visit because they couldn’t make money on him.

What is even more important is that since the Texas Governor wants to play politics with the lives of poor working Texans, a full 25% of working Texans do not even have health insurance. They are not going to be going to the doctor when they really  should be. They’ll wait until it’s an emergency and then go to the emergency room in the hospital, all the while spreading the disease.

Thankfully we have Obamacare to help those in the Democratic states. They will be going to the doctors rather than spreading the disease. The red states? All I can say is I hope they wake up before it’s too late.

Don’t Attack ISIS

ISIS is goading us into another war.

They would like us dropping bombs in Iraq, killing more Muslims.

They would like us killing more Iraqis.

They would like us creating more enemies, more terrorists.

How has this shoot first approach worked for us so far? Are we seeing more terrorists or fewer? The obvious answer is more.

You don’t defeat hatred by bombing and killing people. You show yourself to be the better human, the better country, the better religion.

Hey, Obama, stay out of Iraq. Don’t bomb ISIS.

Christian Views on Abortion

After reading Dave’s two posts on America a Christian Nation and Visitor Comment, I got motivated to follow up. Although Dave’s posts were factual and he made good arguments, I disagree with his inclinations of intolerance.

When educating children as well as adults, you have to show patience and refrain from making the readers feel incapable. But enough about writing styles. Let’s talk about the forbidden subject, abortion.

It seems that after the Supreme Court made another of their many mistakes and made sweeping laws by deciding on all cases regarding Roe vs Wade, all rational discussion stopped. Not only was the Supreme Court out of bounds deciding on this issue as a global decision, but they stopped the discussion Americans were having regarding abortion. Since then, the different sides quit coming together and began drifting apart.

America needs to start talking about abortion again, and start coming together on some serious solutions. Obviously all one way or all the other will never work and is bad for America. Too bad, though, that some feel that it doesn’t matter if it’s bad for America, as long as they get their way. If we only had more Americans like that, we’d be back in the Dark Ages.

We need to reopen the discussion of abortion.

What does your church say about abortion?

Let me answer that for you. It doesn’t matter!

Got that? Churches are creations of man, controlled by man, supported by man’s donations, led by men. If you’re Christian, what your church says about abortion means nothing. What matters is what your God says about it.

If your God doesn’t agree with your church, and I can guarantee that for most Christians they don’t, then the man is fallible, your God is not.

The real question is, what does the Christian God say about abortion?

From the few links provided by the post on Christian Nation, we can see that God recommended abortion on multiple occasions to stop the birth of children into infected/heathen villages. The Christian Bible even has a detailed recipe for abortion.

The Bible references life to begin when the breath of life is blown. In other words, life begins at birth, at first breath.

Don’t believe this? Read the Bible. For example, in Exodus:

21:22 If men strive, and hurt a woman with child, so that her fruit depart from her, and yet no mischief follow: he shall be surely punished, according as the woman’s husband will lay upon him; and he shall pay as the judges determine.
21:23 And if any mischief follow, then thou shalt give life for life,
21:24 Eye for eye, tooth for tooth, hand for hand, foot for foot,
21:25 Burning for burning, wound for wound, stripe for stripe.

This tells us two things about abortion and Christian belief.

  1. If a man brutalizes a woman causing an abortion/miscarriage, then, meh, he has to pay the lesser of what the husband wants or what the judges might decide. However,
  2. If the woman dies or suffers any other mischief, then he pays “life for life.”

Ponder that. According to the Christian Bible, an unborn child is not a “person” worthy of a life for a life because it isn’t born yet. Is it worth something? Sure, something, but not the same as a life or a “tooth for a tooth.”

If this isn’t what your Christian church teaches, then you are going to the wrong church if you are trying to follow the teachings of Jesus. Jesus taught the principles in the Bible. All of the Bible.

I’ll leave you with an important question and ask that you consider it seriously. Why does your church preach things that are the contrary to the principles defined in black and white in the Bible and taught by Jesus? Is yours the church of God or the church of man?

Let’s open up the discussion and come together as a country on how best to deal with the issue of abortion. And let’s leave the troubled churches out of it.

America a Christian Nation Redux

After reading PJ’s great post on America, a Christian Nation, I decided that the issue needs a little more meat on its bones. I read so many milquetoast essays explaining how America’s founding fathers weren’t Christian, how this country was born of The Enlightenment, how American morals came around long before Christianity, blah, blah, blah.

All of these essays miss the point. What are Christian Morals and do we really want a nation that practices those morals? Well, to risk being too simple, I state that Christian morals are defined in the Christian Bible. In fact, anyone who has read the Christian Bible knows that the Bible is to be interpreted word for word and is not open to interpretation and must be taken in its entirety. The Bible says so in black and white. There is no opportunity for even a fool to misunderstand what it means. The Bible ends with this warning:

For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book: And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book.

So you either take the instruction manual for Christianity in its entirety or you don’t take it. You can’t pick and choose.

Maybe you don’t believe that, but you know that there are many Christians who do.

Why does this matter? Because Jesus was a teacher of the Old Testament. He never once said anything God did in the First Testament was wrong. He wouldn’t be Lord if he said God was wrong. And the God of the First Testament was a monster.

The Bible is full of morals: human ritual sacrifice, rape, incest, slavery, genocide, and abortion. Yes, God was big into abortion and demanded it of his followers. Next time you oppose abortion, you need to sit down and read the Bible and learn to embrace it as it’s prescribed in the Bible.

Sure, there are plenty of great and wonderful morals depicted in the Bible, but none of them started with Christianity. Morals are a fundamental part of the human mind and are required for any functioning society.

So, the only morals left are the abominations of the Christian Bible, and the only one that is part of America’s founding documents is slavery and we quickly learned that it’s a lousy thing, even if it’s condoned by Christians.

I can already hear the usual baseless argument about how the Old Testament doesn’t define Christianity, only the New Testament does. Well, if you really believe that, then you have never read the Bible. You are not to remove anything or add anything.

Following is a list of links showing the Christian morals in the Bible. I ask you, do these things reflect the founding of this country? Do we want a country founded on these morals?

Human Sacrifice

There are so very many. Check Google or see this site on Ritual Human Sacrifice.

Rape

You will frequently hear people arguing that all the reference in the Bible to “taking women” really only means they are taking them to the movies and then taking them as their unwilling wives, but that’s not rape. Anyone so blind as to argue this is unworthy of an audience.

The case of Rape in the Bible that most disgusts me is the story of Lot and his daughters. As the story goes, the girls got the father drunk and date raped him. But in the real world, we know how this stuff goes. You can put all the lip stick on this you want but there’s no way this is anything but a pig.

Is it not more believable and more likely that he got drunk and raped his daughters? And for them to conceive it must have happened repeatedly.

Incest

Again, Lot and his daughters is a sick perversion that is God’s way.

But the original conception of Adam and Eve requires incest. Incest was part of the entire plan or maybe God hadn’t thought about that part yet.

Slavery

There are just too many references to even waste time quoting. However, if you feel you need references, leave a comment and I’ll gladly supply a list of links.

Genocide

There are numerous references to genocide in God’s name. Check out Deuteronomy or Joshua.

Abortion

In multiple passages, God’s followers are to cut the unborn children from the bellies of their mothers. Hosea and Kings.

In Numbers 5 there is a ritual designed to cause a miscarriage in a wife whose husband is jealous. That’s a pretty low bar for an abortion performed by the priest.

What More?

This is just a very short list of examples of Christian values. Not my country!

Visitor Comment on Church and State

Checking over the mail queue, I ran across this comment. Since no one else has responded to this, I will do my best. In fact, since my posts are probably the most likely to be read as combative, it was probably meant for me, anyway.

Here is the comment submitted by a reader calling himself Jay:

For someone who claims to want peace you sure are angry and devisive. Do you believe looking down your nose at people because their views differ from yours is a way to peace? As if no one has a right to any belief that differs from yours. I would also like to say that your peace on Christianity playing not playing a role in our constitution as well as your supposed quotes from the bible are factually incorrect and far from the truth. There is also absolutely nothing in the constitution about “the separation of church & state. Any time you would like to be informed on the truth let me know I’d be glad to assist you. To move towards peace would require you and everyone for that matter to stop & examine themselves before criticizing others. Stop looking at the speck in my eye and examine the log in your own. Stay well my brother. You may have unjustified hatred towards myself and everyone else who’s opinion differs but I still love all my brothers, sisters, and fellow Americans.

As I stated, this was not attached to any specific post so I can only imagine that it’s more a comment about Just-Say-Why in general. The reader, Jay, seems to have missed the fact that there are multiple authors posting here and has either lumped us all together or is maybe directing this to someone specific but just doesn’t quite know it yet.

Angry and Divisive

Let’s start at the top: “For someone who claims to want peace you sure are angry and devisive [sic].”

Unlike most bloggers here, I am quite intolerant of those who are so blind they will not see. Too much tolerance is like too many vitamins. They are both bad. Both can kill the host, be it a human body or the body politic. I have no tolerance for those who refuse to admit the facts, those who cling to disproved talking points. In other words, I have little tolerance for those being lied to by Fox and who know it but still watch.

I don’t think anyone here is angry or divisive or looking down our nose. We aren’t angry at those destroying our democracy, but I do feel very little patience for them and we all feel considerable pity for them. They are being hurt by their ignorance just as much as their poor political choices are hurting the rest of the country.

Christianity and the Constitution

To start, what piece are you referring to? There are numerous posts on this site and I don’t see any of them claim that those specific words are in the constitution. But almost every religious reference in the constitution and in other founding documents all point to the need to keep the churches out of the government and keep the government out of the church. Just doing a simple (anyone can do it) search in the constitution for religion gives the following instructions for keeping the religious fanatics out of our government.:

  1. … but no religious Test shall ever be required as a Qualification to any Office or public Trust under the United States
  2.  Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion

The Treaty of Tripoli

See what our founding fathers said about this being a Christian nation:

As the Government of the United States of America is not, in any sense, founded on the Christian religion; as it has in itself no character of enmity against the laws, religion, or tranquillity, of Musselmen; and as the said States never have entered into any war or act of hostility against any Mehomitan nation, it is declared by the parties that no pretext arising from religious opinions shall ever produce an interruption of the harmony existing between the two countries.

Okay, these are the facts. Now, Jay, please feel free to “assist” me on how these facts don’t really mean what they say.

And, lastly, Jay says, “Stop looking at the speck in my eye and examine the log in your own”

No one has to look for the speck in the eyes of those refusing to read the facts, the log is visible from quite a distance. If you were as open to understanding the facts and changing your mistaken world view based on what you find, as most of those you disagree with, the world would be a better place. Open your mind. A closed mind will never learn but it will make a great blind and brainless follower.

America’s Coming Revolution

America is broken to the point that the citizens are doubting that it can be fixed without a major upheaval. I only hope that it can be a peaceful revolution. But many people are beginning to doubt that we can fix these things before it’s too late.

Let’s take a short inventory:

  1. Billionaires can now openly corrupt our political process buying candidates and elections.
  2. The Supreme Court and many of the higher courts are openly against the citizen and for multinational corporations and billionaires
  3. Half of the country’s representatives are openly against any rights for women. Hobby Lobby is only the latest example. If you’re not owned by a man, you’re nothing in their eyes.
  4. The banking industry controls both political parties.
  5. Our government is so broken that no matter what the Democrats want to pass, the Republicans are blocking every move.
  6. 86% of Americans want to extend unemployment benefits but our broken system can’t get it passed.
  7. One party does anything and everything to block to other party, even at the expense of the country.
  8. The middle class is crumbling into poverty while the wealthy get more of our country’s wealth.
  9. Our healthcare system is still broken. Still!
  10. Our kids now have trillions of dollars in student loans.

I’m not implying in any way that all these things can’t be overcome peacefully, but it’s looking pretty bleak. And America is more disgusted than ever with our government and fewer people are interested in voting.

This is a perfect scenario for the billionaires so now they can buy candidates for peanuts.

I don’t want to see a bloody revolution but if we don’t want our children dying in the streets, we need to get motivated, today, to vote out any party that obstructs progress and refuse to vote for any candidate that is funded by big money.

What has Happened to Our World?

I stumbled across a children’s health clinic being held at a local hardware store, today.

The horror of our health care industry smacked me right in the face. What have we done with our once great nation?

I saw an endless line of children without health insurance. Some of the children were so sick someone called the ambulance. Even a fire truck showed up. Some of the children were too sick to even stand on their own.

How could we let this nation come to this? How can we be so silent while the Republicans turn this great country into the Libertarian Paradise of Somalia?  Children there are dying without health care, too.

Health care is a right, it’s not a privileged offered to only the wealthy. Obamacare is a small, tiny step in the right direction and even that is being opposed by the Republicans. The Republican party wants the sick and the poor to hurry up and just die.

This isn’t the America I read about in school. This is a bizarre nightmare brought on by too much Libertarian Voodoo economics.

This country is falling apart around our ankles and we need to get mad as Hell and get out in the streets and demand progress.

Dumb as a Tea Bagger

We used to use the phrase, “dumb as a post,” but more fitting in these days would be “dumb as a tea bagger.”

Twenty years ago, when we saw fools voting against their own best interests and wearing three pointed hats with tea bags hanging from them, we would scoff and disapprove. The fools wouldn’t show up in the news except a few humor stories from time to time.

These days, we have a political party intent on taking advantage of the poor misguided fools. They even have their own news media, Fox News, who tried to give the fools legitimacy.

This is not good for America. We need to call a fool a fool and we need to turn off and openly complain about any news media that tried to give legitimacy to the lunacy of the tea party.

What are the Odds of Global Warming?

What do you think the odds are that Global Warming is man caused? 100%? 10%? 1%?

Now ask yourself if you would board an airplane with those same odds of crashing.  If one of every 100 planes crashed, would you fly? Of course not. If the odds were 1/100 of 1% that would still be hundreds of crashed planes a day.

Would you board that plane?

Of course not.

So why would you do nothing about Global Warming when it has even higher possibility and higher risk of harm than flying in our 100th of one percent example?

I can tell you why some people refuse to address it. It’s because they believe the lies of the fossil fuel industry.
